December 31, 200520 yr I'd appreciate comments about "Switzerland Professional" scenery before deciding to buy it for $129.95.The screen shots look good at;http://www.pcaviator.com/shop/viewAProduct...CFU9mEgodOW3jBgbut the price seems high compared with the cost of other scenery offers.Cliff

Opinions vary but 129.95 is insane unless it covered "much more" area. The Alsaka is a small area too but enough to load up your fave GA and behold some wonderful moutains.http://www.avsim.com/pages/0605/AK/AK.htm[h4]Randy J. December 31, 200520 yr Very nice product but one thing for my is unaccaptable - lack of the compatible night scenery. I know, some are comparing this with Alaska Cinetmatic but in my opinion there is a vast gap in textures quality between them (Switzerland is far superior, Alaska's scenery looks to me like colorized black&white photos). But lack of night scenery in both of them doesn't make it an attractive proposition for me. It all depends what you need it for for. For some daytime flying in a slow aircraft (Switzerland is a small country) it could be perfect.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
December 31, 200520 yr Author The Switzerland scenery is many times bigger than Alaska Cinematic. Also the Mesh is extremely detailed, even forests show up as 3D due to the detailed mesh taking ground features into account. The scenery is expensive because the source photos were. I'd say if you have a special interest in Switzerland or mountain flying, this is one of the best sceneries. Otherwise there are other options like Megascenery, VFR Photographic etc that cover other regions and cost less. -
January 1, 200620 yr I have it and am delighted with it. You can often find screenshots at the swiss fs forum at http://flightforum.ch/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=22Yes, it is expensive. There was some discussion early on about this, and it was said that the high cost of the aerial photography on which it was based was part of the problem. If you have ever bought a cup of coffee in Switzerland you won't be surprised :) Like all photo sceneries, it looks best from a reasonable altitude.I already had a europe enhanced mesh terrain product, but the Swiss photo scenery was a very worthwhile step.No framerate problems here.As you cross the Swiss boundary, you will see a noticeable join to the standard surrounding scenery. Some folks didn't like that, but I think it happens with most region transitions between different scenery packages. Hope this helps.--Bryn
January 1, 200620 yr Thanks to you Bryn and to all you other guys who have offered their assements.I appreciate it.Cliff
January 1, 200620 yr Those resourceful Swiss flightsim users are slowly adding Autogen to Switzerland Pro. Looks pretty good as a work in progress.http://flightforum.ch/forum/showthread.php?t=34706
January 2, 200620 yr Purely on price it clearly is a gouge for the Switzerland scenery. The Alaska scenery noted is a good comparison. Quality product and although it's only Vol. 1 it covers 11,000 sq. miles at about $27.00 Switzerland is approx. 16,000 sq. miles at $130.00. Sheesh.
January 2, 200620 yr Hello As a proud swiss, it was a must to get this one! :-)I use it for VFR training, if i do a real VFR flight i never did before, i always do the flight in FS2004 the day before, it really helps!Be aware that you tweak a lot to use this scenery in perfection, some users never got rid of the blurry textures.....McDaniel
January 2, 200620 yr I've spent many holidays walking in Switzerland and I love this scenery, it's one of the best. Like all photoreal scenery it's best used with a slow plane to avoid the blurries. John
