Turbulent Designs KMBS now released - V4 ready

Recommended Posts

Living only about 100 miles south of this airport it has been long awaited. Of course any of you can relate that a local payware airport to yourself is always wanted and probably not so for the rest of the community. A lot of people ask why Russ would make such a small low use airport pretty much in the middle of nowhere. You have to take a few steps back to the beginning of development when it was just White Digital Simulations. Russ White set out to make a handful of airports in the Great Lakes Region, starting with MBS. Over the years the development stalled, and Russ teamed up with Turbulent who helped it along to release.

Now as for performance, I have this airport loaded into P3Dv4 and can say it is very smooth and frames are very good. I know everyone has their own settings and sliders in certain places, but as for me, my frames remained locked at 30 the entire time of exploring the airport without a stutter. Modeling the inside of the terminal has been brought up many many times concearning the impact on frames or VAS. I can tell you, don't worry. The airport terminal is only 4 gates. I think a lot of people are underestimating the actual size of the terminal, probably more comparable to a large hangar. So the amount of internal modeling is very little. Not even 5 percent worth of internal modeling compared to Toronto Pearson's size. I did walk my avatar through it today and it is really...really really impressive.

The airport as a whole is just done so well, inside and out. The real flora is stunning, the clutter details and the textures are excellent. The surrounding area has hand placed houses, farms and neighborhoods. The bar really has been raised again with this regional airport. I highly recommend buying it.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

Just like you, Andrew, I'm glad some developers give a little love to our smaller airports off the beaten path. I live in Kansas City, and when KMCI came out, I was thrilled. I'm going to purchase KMBS, just because it's a nice short to and from hop on a regional flight from Kansas City. I hope other developers will follow Turbulent Design and make more of these non major national airports.

We need Aerosoft to release their CRJ7/9 so we can make authentic tubeliner use of this beautifully rendered scenery.  They show the PMDG B737 NGX landing there in their demo video, but when I searched FlightAware, the only recent B737 service to that facility was a charter.  The vast bulk of R/L activity is with CRJs.  I will definitely be picking this one up.

The beauty of simulation, we can try all sort of stuff. Heck I fly my 747 out of a bush airports- just for fun.

Pretty neat airport. Terrific job all the way to the roof. Imagine if entire P3DV-4 was like this?

Looks like they have pushed the bar up several notches with this product.  Curious how frame rates are for P3Dv3 version.

I'm using P3Dv3 and it runs smooth like butter.

That's great.  Thanks, Johnny!

Looks like I'll be getting this one pretty soon.
