747-8

Recommended Posts

Hi PMDG guys, I know you have a lot to do. Is the 747-8 still a topic? Will it still exist?

Thanks and regards

Hi,

As long as you don't read an official statement from PMDG that the project is abandoned, consider they are working on it full speed!

of course its still in the works... i highly doubt that they work on it this much and say "nah, lets abandon it".... They are working on it and will share something when something is worth sharing.

Perhaps reading the post below from PMDG will give you a clear understanding of where the project stands currently.

How radically different will this be from the 400 though?

Stretched plane, different engine characteristics, and I'm guessing the flight characteristics would be a little difference since the plane is longer and has a completely different wing. Also not really sure what systems are in there, but I imagine there are quite a few differences between the two planes.

The "office" is likely just about the same though.  You see, I waiver between the 748 and the NGX.

Think of the 748 as a 777 with 4 engines. The flight deck is more 77L/77W than 744: ECL, modern color CDUs. Don't forget you have 4 GEnX engines hanging on the wings, too.

Big performance difference. Just as there is between a 772 and 773ER.
The engines alone as Kyle mentioned give it an entire different performance profile.

Hmm, cash is finite, as I ponder the NGX I cant decide if I should instead await the 748...
