Michael, I respect your opinion, however, other than the incident last week and perhaps one other post in the entire time I was here (we both know which one where I got defensive about my box) I try to be nothing but helpful to other users but yes, I too have fallen prey to the attack others and be an A******, the difference is that I am consciously trying to change that and sincerely apologize to those I have inadvertently offended. I am really sorry if the perception of me in the forums is the one that you portray. I have had quite a few people e-mail me in private for help and I have never turned anyone away or done anything but try to help. To the contrary I have bent over backwards trying to help out other members of this and other forums. Again, if the perception of me in the formus is otherwise then I do sincerely apologize, no BS intended at all. It was certainly never my intent and I have tried to be a constructive member of these and other forums... Look I am far fromperfect, I am the first to admit it and I have made mistakes in my responses to others so for that, Please accept my apologies.Maybe it is time for me to hang up the keyboard along with Larry LOL If the outlook in the forums is really that trying to make it a better and more friendly place is unrealistic then I have no desire to be here anyway.Sincerely,-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0psolksig.jpg

After a lot of consideration, I've decided stop doing scenery. My last 2 sceneries have been downloaded over 1300 times combined, and generated only 1 response (about .01 percent). And the stuff before that has gotten about the same response or less (what's less than 1?). I feel like either my stuff is crap, or just totally unappreciated. If people think it's crap, I would have liked to have known what could have been done to make it better. Either way, I think it's time I find a new hobby. I've never been in this for fame or glory, but I don't think it's out of line to expect an occasional thank you after putting a lot of time and work into something, and giving it away for free. Appreciated. The verbal abuse often gets out of hand. Much better reading now.:-ukliamRob MorrisonFS Enthsiast

Just figure as I did a few years ago when making scenery. If someone downloads it, they like it and are saying so by downloading. For, when someone does NOT like something, they are much more likely to complain. Thats just human nature, if no one has complained, then you have 1300 who really appreaciated it. After all, though I made scenery for FS93-95, and got no thanks. But, then, I also had never thanked anyone for the hundreds of aircraft, scenery, and repaints which I downloaded. Why would I expect others to do what I'd not done? If you have not thanked every single freeware author, for every program which you downloaded, you might have the same attitude. Just enjoy the fact, that YOU made the scenery for you to enjoy yourself. Why else would you make it? Then, it was a BONUS that 1300 others are able to also...

Larry, whether people say thank you or not... your work is appreciated. My repaints have yet to break a download of 1300. I don't expect people to take time to email me for a thank you for creating a repaint of an aircraft. I am not trying to discout your feelings, however we live in a thankless world. I can't tell you how many times I have volunteered my time to one hobby, organization, or another and never got a thank you. I don't do it for the thanks, I do it because I want to give back to a community. Think of it this way, by you donating your time to the hobby of FS, others are thanking you by donating their time to the hobby. It is a community effort, and for one I am thankful for everyones contributions. I will continue to provide my repaints when I can, as long as others continue to contribute to the hobby in their own way. Because of the freeware and payware contributors, this hobby will continue to grow and get better and better.Thank you to Larry and everyone who contributes in downloads or ideas.Kevin

Larry,I have to admit I am one of the users who downloaded some of your creations and used them. I am still using them by the way. True I have never wrote you any thank you email for it and I truly apologize for it. But since apparently it is never too late to do the right thing...T H A N K Y O UI hope you reconsider since your work is good but if you leave, someone will take your place and others won't look back... Anyway, thank you again and I hope you find what you are looking for somewhere else.Did you thank AVSIM for hosting your work for free so you don't have to pay someone for bandwith use ?

I try to always remember to send a quick note to someone after downloading their add-ons. Sometimes I get a reply from them, sometimes I don't, but I like to send one anyway. I will admit I forget occasionally, but the majority of the time I do contact the developer and offer my thanks/compliments.KP

Hi Larry,How many files have you downloaded over the years (hundreds?).How many thank you email have you sent *that also didn't ask for help or improvements* (ten?).The math is inevitable - most downloaders don't thank the authors. It's certainly something I've learned to live with. Other authors never do, and that's one of many reasons why they burn out.Enjoy your future,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

I'm with you on that thought, John. I've made numerous sceneries for the Bahamas and Caribbean because it was fun and creative for myself and also a way to give back to the community that fills my sim with so many fine additions, yours and Larry's included. I've received very few thank you's but don't mind a bit. I see where Larry's coming from but I hope he takes heart and realizes that a lot of folks are enjoying his lighthouses like me.Best,Rob ARedding, CA

Larry, I know just what you mean but in life one is not thanked, just expected to carry on and if you go most will never notice. BUT I do feel that it is worth AVSIM having a section that lists the items of scenery downloaded most times. This will give some recognition to the designer and of course an indirect "pat on the back" and encouagement.Push hard with AVSIM to get just such a site set up and then we will all be intrigued to see which scenery is most sought after.Don't quit. Hang on in and push for success tables.
