Updated Manuals URGENT

Featured Replies

Dear Mr York:

I have recently returned to FS2Crew to add to my enjoyment in flying the Majestic Q400 - a very demanding add-on indeed, and at the moment my favourite.

I have purchased, installed and enabled the 64bit voice and button control bundle.  My concern is that the manual is grounded in FSX and XP, so it is very hard to match the instructions to the P4 interfaces and Win 10 and it would seem even harder to make the installation actually function.

I am elderly with basic computer skills, but a long time in RW and simulator flying, but for instance the extra instructions for getting voice control to operate in W10 suggest a demanding and difficult task.  I have tried to set up button control by setting two keyboard keys to the arrowed tasks but to no avail.  I can open the window from within the computer, but by using a changed menu in v4 not the one pointed out in the manual.

Do you think that it would be possible to revise the setup pages in the Manual to match v4 (for which you have produced this version) functionality to avoid treating Win10 as a foreign system?

KInd regards,

Hi Ian,

The key commands are same.  Auto Feather Arm/Off, for example, is the same in FSX and it is in P3D V4.  (I recommend using the N key for that assignment).

I assume you're coming from Windows XP, so the only real difference for you will be setting your speech recognizer to ENGLISH - US.

I'm guessing you might be from the UK...

Question:  How do I install the English - US language pack in Windows 10?

Answer:

1. Go to Settings > Time & language > Region & language.

2. Select "ADD A LANGUAGE TO THIS DEVICE".
3. Select the language you want to use from the list (ENGLISH)
4. Choose which region's version you want to use (ENGLISH - US).
5. Left click on the English US language set, and a new menu should appear.  Then you must click 'OPTIONS' and then click 'DOWNLOAD' under the 'SPEECH ' category.
6. Go to the 'ADVANCED SPEECH OPTIONS' page in the Control panel.
7. English - US should now be visible in the Language drop down menu.
8. Don't forget to train your voice!

Thanks Brian:  I follow the first part of the reply for the button command:  but my OS is Win 10.

I am quite happy to stay with English-US, (when I try voice in the next day or two) so as not to need any further steps. Please advise if this is OK.

But get someone to do an upgrade, it is a huge let down to see all of those illustrations in FSX UIs.  I disposed of FSX when I first installed P3Dv1 and now I am in v4, I have removed all others.  It is only because I have gone the whole route with MSFS from way way back that I recognised them.

You will soon have a new generation buying your products who will never have known FSX.

KInd regards,

Hmm, I don't think that I read your answer very carefully Brian:  I do have to download that speech pack,

  • 1 month later...

Have to agree to be honest.

For a 40 buck piece of software, it should be updated. If I never see the letters F S X again, it will be too soon.

As an aside, albeit related, how big is the manual and is a sample available for the Dash 8 ?

I would like to get it professionally printed and bound: is this possible ?

A bit surprised that you feel that way about FSX being as it probably provided a fair share of the past revenue for FS2Crew.

Ah well, more money to be spent elsewhere..

True, FSX did a lot for FS2Crew, and it still does.

But you can't beat 64 bit computing; P3D v4 is really where it's at now.
