Hidden response on my post? Really?

Featured Replies

Can one of the moderators please help me.  I have posted about regional aircraft in the P3D forum and replied recently to someone who had posted and when trying to post it the thing says hidden.  Surely this can't be some sort of censorship can it?

I have been respectful and simply offered an opinion about a particular topic.  If you look at my hidden response there could be nothing offensive in it?

Could someone in charge please clarify for me.

Thoughts on PMDG and pricing aside.

Ask yourself

Would you sooner have a PMDG NG in your hanger than a MD 80 -717?

If so you need to think is the gap between the price of MadDog/717 to get the NG worth it to you?. If you put their pricing aside and your #1 choice would be the NG then I suggest you dont cut of your nose to spite your face. Many here feel like you about what they did but I still bought the NG again and the 777. Was I happy to do so ? hell no.

I have the 717 and the MadDog. The Mad Dog feels a nice spot as its old school but not VOR-VOR. The 717 is also great.

Also if you are interested in getting the very best then FSL A320 is obscenely good and the money you spent on the other two go along way towards it.?

At the end of the day all the above are great just ask yourself what your "really" want.

Hi David I must admit the B737 was a favourite and perhaps you are right, however the thought of them coming out with the next version and having to pay up yet again is something I really don't want to think about.

I also admit i had not even considered the FSL A320, as i thought it was most likely just eye candy and not a serious rendition of an A320.

I thought the Airbus logic was too complex for FSX/P3D programming, are you saying there have been breakthroughs in this?

It could certainly fit the bill.

I will try to clarify.  I have put certain restrictions on topics and posts to make sure they are reviewed by a moderator first to ensure they are not a violation of the AVSIM Terms of Service or our Signature/Copyright policies.  We have experienced an influx of many violations of our ToS and want to make sure those posts and topics do not make it on AVSIM.  This is normal practice when a moderator sees trolling, abusive conduct, inciting posts, etc., which violate our terms.  I have reviewed the post in question and it was approved.  If there was any inconvenience, apologize.

Thanks for your reply Jim.  I will always try and abide by the rules here but feel there was nothing in my posts that should have resulted in concern on your behalf.  Especially as another moderator was actively involved in the discussion.

In any case, thanks once again for explaining the situation.

John I notice I am still being monitored and my posts hidden until approved on my thread.  I was trying to offer my thanks for all the thoughts of other simmers about the choice of a regional jet but the post is also hidden until approved.

I have done absolutely nothing wrong here and while you explained what you did, i would now appreciate it if you took the hold off my posts.  Another moderator was involved in the discussions at the time so don't you think he would have said something if there was a problem?

This is in danger of becoming heavy handed now.

Sincerely

Tim Carter

Hi Jim, is this a flag set over certain topics and posts only that affect all users? or is this a measure that only covers a select set of users? I've been around since 2004 (had not the last forum registration date gotten lost in the migration to this system, it'd show I've first registered back in '98) and this just happened to me for the first time ever.

Thanks for the clarification.

cheers

edit: well, my post showed here immediately without the need for approval, so it's basically aimed at certain topics / posts indeed.

edit2: well, it DOES seem to be targeted at some users in such flagged posts, since there were replies posted by a user in the topic I tried to respond to, whilst mine is still in "hidden" mode. What is the criteria being used then?.

I have been having my posts get deleted in the maddog support forum for reasons unknown....

One particular one was my opinion that wasn't a glowing review...however, I did recommend buying the airplane. Who's knows....

It's not just happening to you. It's avsim in general.

AVSIM Moderators do not moderate commercial forums.  MaddogX has their own moderators.

I attempted to clarify but public attacks on AVSIM Staff continued so locked this topic.  Public attacks on me or the moderating team will not be tolerated per the AVSIM Terms of Service.  If you have a problem, please use the 'Report Post' feature in the post or topic and provide our team information that can be used to help you.  Publicly stating "this is in danger of being heavy handed now" is not going to help you get your problem fixed.  If you have a problem with our policy to approve certain posts and topics before publication, there is nothing I can do as it is our current policy and the policy will remain until the issue is fixed or goes away.  This is one of the tools used by moderators worldwide (and why it is built into websites).  If you do not like the fact we are moderating certain posts, then please do not post here.  It is not going to change.

It appears to me that some of you are doing certain things on purpose just to see how AVSIM is operating.  Can a post about the FSL A320 get approved if I say this, or if I say that? Topics and posts about Digital Rights Management (DRM's) whether associated with FS Labs or any developer will not be discussed on AVSIM per the AVSIM Terms of Service (written and approved by the late owner - I had nothing to do with it whatsoever).  DRM's are used by developers to protect their products from piracy and discussions about piracy here at AVSIM will not be allowed.  There are many sites that will allow this type of discussion but it is prohibited here.  The Board of Directors', with consultation with the AVSIM team of moderators  have confirmed these discussions will not happen here at AVSIM, now or in the future.

Some of you think you have a right to call any of the AVSIM Staff names or question their ability to perform.  The AVSIM Terms of Service does not allow this too and any such comments will be removed (hidden) immediately by me or other members of our moderating team.  If you do not comply with our Terms of Service, then you will be asked to leave.  This is also stated in the AVSIM Terms of Service.  This is a huge site with a lot of activity and we do not have the time to be arguing individually about our Terms of Service or how business is conducted here at AVSIM.  If any of our membership, young or old, were placed in my position or the position of our moderators, they would have their own rules or method of moderating.

This topic will remain locked as there is no reason to argue this further publicly.  If you want to continue to argue the AVSIM Terms of Service or our policies on moderating topics and posts submitted to AVSIM for approval, then you can send me a PM if it is not covered in the AVSIM Terms of Service.
