For me ORBX England and Scotland with some UK2000 airports is the best there is. As Real as it gets...

regarding Airport sceneries, not sure which are preferred. Big hubs, smaller airports ?

However, some of the most atmospheric airports for my taste :

ENVA Trondheim by Aerosoft (great Winter impression)

LIML Milano-Linate by Jetstreamdesigns

LGSM Samos by 29 Palms (very nice and challenging approach !)

If you fly Tubes all the above with ORBX Global, OLC Euro and vector.

That should get you started. UK2000 if you need UK airports but there starting to lag behind in looks.

If you want the best of the best, Flightbeam and Flytampa, Flytampa EHAM and Corfu are stunning. Flightbeam are all state side.

Anything from UK2000 for the UK is pretty good. I've now got all the major hubs plus a few more minor ones for regional flights.  I really miss my VFR Gen X scenery and Earth Simulations stuff from FSX, I haven't yet found a way to get either working properly in P3D v4.

For mainland Europe, FlyTampa Copenhagen and Amsterdam are great. I also really enjoy the Balearic islands from Aerosoft (Palma, Menorca and Ibiza), as well as Madeira for a challenging approach. Mega Airport Rome is also nice.

Slightly longer haul but still within an easy reach are some very nice Greek island scenery: FlyTampa Corfu, as well as 29Palms Samos, Skiathos, and Mykonos is soon getting a v4 update.

Just point point the scenery.cfg to the folders in correct order (similar order as in FSX). I have put the agn files from ES trees into the respective GenX texture folders. All GenX and ES trees work nicely in my setup in P3D4.2. If you are more experienced you can even merge tiles containing trees with OSM buildings by using "AGN merge tool", which looks even better as you have buildings & trees in the UK paared with photo scenery...

I would start the EU selection with the developers:

Flytampa, Flightbeam, FSDreamTeam, 29Palms, Jo Erlend Sund (Aerosoft), OrbX, Justsim to look at.

For the UK, definitely UK2000 airports.

More general, FTX Global Base (OrbX) is a big improvement over default scenery textures, and then land classes (e.g. FTX Global openLC Europe).

I am using the Horizon Gen-X VFR photoscenery with ES trees in 4.2 along with UK2000 airports. Whilst the Orbx stuff looks 'prettier' it just doesn't compare to actual photo scenery. I guess if you like doing VFR flying then thats the best there is, if your interest is the big jets then Orbx England/Wales/Scotland will look better and the lack of accuracy won't really concern you.
