Hi Chris,

I hate to be stating the obvious, but in the time you have spend agonising over this issue you could have reinstalled everything. I think maybe it’s time you bite the bullet and accept the inevitable unless, of course, like me you enjoy a challenge!

Mike

Reminds of the time I installed some scenery and all the bridges in my sim turned into neat little hills with cliffs - replaced some files with stock cleared that.

But you replaced the stock scenery files and the problem still exists? When you said you tried an old scenery.cfg that might not be enough. You would reduce the sim to stock to test that out properly since for example the user docs addons simply go back in place.

I have a stock install copy for diagnosing the inevitable problems introduced by the addon sceneries.

Try these settings:

Mesh resolution 5m

Texture resolution 60cm

Water effects Mid 2.x

I have taken Mike's advice. Reinstallation of P3D and addons is currently in progress. Stand by for an update

Have you Defaults/Apply all your NVidia Control Panel Profiles?

Did you install onto empty folders.

Is this before adding your addons?

I had made a mess of the World Scenery folder (one scenery folder within another scenery folder)! The rest of Earth has now been recovered, but I will have to check later if my original problem still exists or not.

I am suffering from exactly the same problem after a reinstall of P3D v3.4.

The settings I posted work for P3D V2 and V4.2 (with high definition textures turned off).

Well now.......your suggestion appears to be working! I confess that I did not have any confidence in it at all, since I did not have this problem with Mesh and Texture Resolution sliders all the way to the right prior to installing France VFR Basse Normandie. Very strange. However, if this promising development proves to be permanent, then I owe you a great deal more than a beer!

Did you delete all of the "generated" files and directories after uninstalling?  If you just uninstall P3D, it leaves those in place, so a borked .cfg file might still be left over from before.

To really get a clean install you have to get rid of the Lockheed Martin and/or P3D directories in users\<username>\AppData\Roaming, ProgramData, and your Documents folder.

Yes, I followed Elaine Dixon's full uninstall instructions that are posted on the Lockheed Martin P3D forum.

It is weird. I need those settings on my I7 7900K and GTX1080 Ti running W10 but I can have

Mesh resolution 1m

Texture resolution 7cm

on my AMD Phenom II X4 940 and GTX 760 running XP.

Go figure.
