It was an absolutely brutal airplane to work in the bins. There are three cargo bins and they hold a lot of whatever you're loading. Once I push out AA...a USAir version would not be out of the realm of possibility. I got over that nostalgia thing about three mergers ago.BTW, you're right. That default AA paint is nasty. They need to get that plane in the hangar for a wash and good buffing out. Yeah, sadly many simmers who've never seen the real thing up close would get the wrong impression that AA metal planes really look like that. I'm getting a chuckle at the folks who are commenting on it at facebook saying it needs more dirt. This missed the text where I told them this is just the metal test shots...I haven't even begun to add weathering and details.....however this bird will only be weathered lightly..as the other version Maddog simmers have to choose from has enough dirt for the entire fleet! The mix of reflection with signs of many hours in the air is evident. Steve did an awesome job and I can't wait to see add more to the textures. Thanks Brian! I had to use a different method to apply the metal effect than this one I painted: And this one from years ago (FS2004 LDS 767 with Ed Cox's photo textures...yes...2004!) But even on photo textures you spend a LOT of time tweaking the alpha to get the reflections and shininess looking just right....a ton of trial and error, making an adjustment, loading it up in the sim..again and again...spinning the plane around in slew mode seeing how the sun reflects at different angles, changing the sim time to see how it looks at dawn, dusk, midday, etc. Most folks have no idea how much time goes into making a metal paint look right in the sim.
