If that had been posted by the mod of this forum, I doubt things would have progressed as they did.Jay

Arrived Sydney, Australia this morning at 17:00 U.S. EDT time. Checked the forums upon arrival at hotel (0930 Sydney time) did not see your post, not that I was all that engergetic in checking the forums at all. Checked posts again just now (0300 Sydney time) and this post appears. Not to take away too much from your campaign here (apparently), but I did not lock your post. Had I seen it, and had it the basic content the last one did - sales pitch, etc., I might have.

The other one is still here, and it in no was was a 'sales' pitch, just a followup. At the time it was locked, I was in a conversation with Jim from Active Sky which had nothing to do with the original subject. There is no 'campaign, just a person that doesn't like someone trying to control his speech, when if a rule was broken, it was certainly unintentional.Jay(Enjoy Sydney, thats where my wife is from and someday I will make it there)

This isn't about personal preferences of forum managers, it's about users not abiding by the forum rules...If there's a rule that says certain toppics are off limits, you have to abide by them. You were told your chosen topic was off limits, yet you insist on yapping on about it.Apparently you haven't learned your lesson still...

And that's pretty much what you were told the very first time you brought it up, and you chose not to listen then.

for what it is worth PPSFA, I am on your side on this one. Been coming here a long time and there are obviously others issues behind the scene in play here.appreciated your comments on the service though.

''ALL forum managers retain the right to select what content and type of user they allow in THEIR forum.:-)''Except Simflight. You have to be particularly offensive to have any post removed from Simflight.

Its a fact that some people can get away with more then others. For example you, Ron Hamilton & Jeff Nielsen seem to get away with more then others. Of course it helps if the forum moderators know you a little beter. Problem is that our written words are always open for extra interpretation. Chances are that if whe met each other in RL in a pub we would get along much beter.

they reserve the right to remove stuff nevertheless, they just don't make as much use of it...

Geez Mike, another conspiracy theory? It could be as simple and is, that a user sent us an alert email regarding the topic and suggested that we lock the thread (probably motivated by the previous deletion and history of the topic in these forums). A mod, who we have not identified yet, took the suggestion to heart, and locked the thread. Neither Ken nor I locked it, so that leaves three or four others that could have. Pretty simple stuff. No need for conspiracy theories.

Hence, posts that state that this service is "snake oil" need to be deleted, not entire threads. ricardo

I heard once that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result. Even a dog learns after being hit on the nose a few times. If the Avsim folks have said in clear terms that your posts on that topic aren't welcome, why keep trying to prove your point? BTW, most people do not seem to understand what censorship really is. Censorship is when a government prevents or limits speech by force of law and/or arms. Private entities can't censor, and they have every right to limit the content and opinion on their private forum.

No need for conspiracy theories.Yo Tom!! :-hah*Raises hands high in the air* :-lol :-lolI didn't lock it!! I'm not implying at all that you're pointing at anyone here, mate, I'm just stating the fact that I didn't lock it. I don't know who locked it, but personally I just thought that I should leave that thread to you and Ken to deal with, because I found the issue to be a bit confusing, in other words, after reading the thread, I couldn't exactly decide whether it was an advertisement for FSGS or just a user's opinion about FSGS. I also think that even now, I should leave this issue to you and Ken, because I still find it to be a bit confusing to me....Anyway, I'm off to see the movie Cars here in sunny San Diego, Ciao!!Regards,

"This makes absolutely no sense at all, given that this service got an ENTHUSIASTIC review right here on avsim. Hence, posts that state that this service is "snake oil" need to be deleted, not entire threads."Here we go again--exactly why those threads were deleted--because one member disagrees with someone's view that this service isn't what that member thinks it is. It's not about snake oil (being well schooled in systems support I think this service has its place). It's about certain pet topics eliciting comments from those who come across as overzealous fans and protectors of the Holy Grail. You've been on the receiving end of this yourself when you've made posts about a certain vendor. Funny you're championing the same treatment of those who dare air an opinion contrary to the crowd.-JohnEdit: And it is only fair to note that the Avsim review came long after many of the threads on the subject had gone south. A positive Avsim review doesn't always mean a product is right for everyone and should not be the sword by which others' thoughts are dissed.
