Windowed mode top bar removal?

Featured Replies

Hi all-

Full screen on my triple screen setup is no longer working for an unknown reason in 4.3

Anyway, if I could clear the white bar at the top of the window, I'd be good to go.

Is this possible?

There is a freeware tool that does this... but I apologize as I don't remember what it's called.  If I come up with it, I'll certainly let you know, but I'll be Googling for it just as others might.  Maybe someone with a better memory than me remembers what it's called.

Best wishes.

That may work, thanks!  But the one I'm thinking of was created specifically for P3D.  P3D is a little different (sorry I don't remember the particulars) as (I believe) even in the full screen it's still Windowed mode... but again I don't remember the particulars and could be off a bit about this.

Best wishes.

Installed both of these this morning. Exact same behavior as alt + enter, that is, the stretched windowed mode across 3 monitors collapses to the center monitor in full screen without the title bar.

Strange.

Looks like I better get used to the white bar :>) I'm now wondering if I could somehow change the color to something darker. That would work I guess.

You could change the color of the title bar to appear less intrusive. I use to have a windows theme just for flight sim.

If you are interested in fixing the problem, here are another couple of suggestions. You can try these in either order, I suppose. First, in Windows control Panel (or nvidia CP) make one of the two side monitors your main monitor (there is a check box for this somewhere, I forget exactly). Then see if your P3D full-screen collapses to that monitor instead. If it does, it just makes me more convinced that P3D is just confused about your display setup. Then what you can do (or just do it anyway) is to delete all the [DISPLAY.Device...] sections from your p3d.cfg file and let P3D recreate them. (You will then likely need to reset your full-screen resolution as I described in the other thread).

Thanks Mark. I'll try this when I get home.

Didn't have this issue with 4.2

Cheers,

Mark

No, but my guess is something in the update process probably just went wrong. I have had illogical display problems with FSX, usually after tinkering with video cards and settings, that I fixed this way. BTW, I am also assuming you are using nvidia Surround (or eyefinity if you're on the dark side) and that is still correctly configured. (I guess you wouldn't be able to stretch the window across all three monitors if that wasn't working.)

No Surround-resolution didn't match with native. Looked horrible. That's how I ended up with stretching the image.

Beau over at LM helped with this. If you don't exceed 15 degrees on the outside monitors, runway markings, horizon etc. match up remarkably well. This works even better for me as I only use half of the outside monitors and I run P2ATC on one side along with Precision XOC on the other. The high res allows me to run 4XMSAA saving additional graphics power for other things. Been doing this for quite a while now. Works perfect.

Well, I am officially confused about your setup. I wish LM had better documentation for their display configuration, I am using a view group but the setup is very hit and miss (mostly miss). I can't find any detailed (or sufficiently detailed) documentation for setting up view groups.

That is why I gave that up too. I tried.

There is another company whose name I cannot remember that also had an 'easy' way to set up multiple monitors that was not specific to flight sims. After hours of trying, directions from poor support and frame rates in the toilet, I landed on the triple monitor stretch with virtually no frame rate hit. Been doing it ever since.

I'll take a pic of my setup when I get home and post it for you. A picture is worth a thousands words and all that...  :>)

Hey Mark-

That was it. Specifically, Display.Device 0,1 showed native resolution and Display 2 showed 1024 x 768 even though dragging any icon across all three showed native resolution, that is, that icon did not enlarge reflecting a reduced resolution. offensive initials not allowed? Anyway deleting all three and having P3D recreate did the trick. Fullscreen good.

Thanks again,

Mark
