For those using FS Global 2010 in P3Dv4, Help needed please?

Featured Replies

Hi all,  ive read from several people including Orbx who recommend using FS Global 2010 for the mesh while using their products. I do own Fs Global 2010 but as you all know the Installation setup will only allow you to choose FSX or Prepare 1 - 3, and i have none of the sims on my PC.  Ive tried making my own folder FS Global to get teh files dropped into thinking I could then manually point to scenery folder of V4 to it, but the installer said no, and wont accept that. Ive also tried pointing the Installer to the P3dV4 install manually but the install fails halfway and rollsback.

Can anyone please tell me how on earth do i get Fs Global 2010 to install to V4?

I do also own ultimate but i want full compatability with all my Orbx airfields and scenery which is doesnt have.

Make a registry entry for FSX and point it at your P3Dv4, that's what FSG2010 is likely looking for. To save messing in your registry there are free tools you can use, https://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library did one, https://www.tweakfs.com/store/free_tools.php is another.

Alternatively just get FreeMeshX, it's P3D compatible and free and general equivalent or better LOD compared with FSG2010.

Just install the application outside to a any fake FSX or p3dv3 location.  There will be like 8 directories or so (around 20gigs).  Now you can always move them around.  I have mesh data outside - into P3Dv4 addon directory.  And I use Lorby Addon tool to create addon enteries.  Works perfectly.

Once you do that.  You will never ever have to use the installer again.  Just move wherever you want the 20GB of Mesh files (8 directories) to be at.

Thanks guys, will attempt to create a fake folder when I get back from work.

im guessing it’s literally just a folder saying P3DV4 in whatever drive I want and point FS Global there, or do I need to put in scenery folders etc inside?

If you have Ultimate, install this. It makes really no sense to install FSG2010 only for Orbx. Orbx usually comes with their own mesh anyway and if not, Ultimate works just fine. Have you seen any incompabilities?

I've been using Ultimate NG for months, and no real issues.

If you do find any issues with airport elevations etc, these can be easily fixed with their tool, i think it's called AFM tool or something. I only had to use it once so far, no biggie.
