Seeing Birds & Ships & other models

Featured Replies

I am pretty sure when I was landing the beaver by the cruise ship that a dolphin or whale jumped out of the water. However when I took a double take it was gone. Never seen any birds though!!

OK, maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions a bit to soon, but from what I have seen so far, the people having troubles with finding birds (only seen all black birds once etc.), and are having trouble with missing yachts and trawler and chassis-only vehicles, are all using shader model 3 graphics cards? The threadmaker (David W) was able to see birds and the other stuff on his computer running a FX5600XT (Shader Model 2, I think, if I'm wrong this whole post is useless ;D)) but not on his computers running Shade Model 3 cards. Now, since there's only one person in this thread who has tested on a computer with a Shader Model 2 card, we only know that Shader Model 3 cards seem to generally have problems with birds and stuff, we don't know that it generally works with Shader Model 2 cards. If some people with systems with Shader Model 2 cards can post and say if they see birds and the other stuff or not. This post may not make much sense, it's after midnight here in Sweden, and I'm a bit tired, but I hope it's at least readable ;)Again, I may be totally off with this conclusion, but maybe I'm right? ;DKlas

Yes I see topless birds on maho beach all the time.

I think it is th sliders making the difference. At least that would go with the way FS has always been "structered", i.e. sliders to the right would yield more "features", whereas moving to the left would lessen the things you see out the window.Oh and all you need to do is press CNTRL+B to spread bird food and there they are ;)

we catagorically denied every decrying the birds and dolphins!!! Nope! Must have been the other flight sim sight!

Nvidia 6800GT (256mb)No birds, no trawler.

I saw a cat chasing several iguanas near the warehouse by the cargo ship.

AAAAHAA, so that was YOU behind the warehouse.

No birds. GF 7950 GX2.Ulf B

You should definately be able to see them. I have a Dell D810 1.83 GHz, 1 GB, ATI Mobility X300 64MB, and I can see them. Make sure scenery is set to max. The birds are black to me, though, up close. Even the airplanes parked at one of the airports are black to me up close. From far away I can see textures, however. But this is a documented issue which they told us about.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

No birds, no trawler, black AI planes.Interesting, once, in the Baron, there was a pilot, though the pilot was all black like my AI planes.Radeon 9550P4 2.8 GHz

At one time, while playing with settings, I got a trawler to show up, along with some other airport objects that were all missing textures and showed up black. Most of the time I don't see them. But I found something on my system that seems to make some of this stuff visible. I changed the time by 1 hour, and (from VC view in the FS9 Jetranger) the ground turned red. The trawler and some birds flying near it showed up grey/white along with some grey/white cars on the road. Think I even crashed into the trawler once that way. Changing views will get things back to normal and the trawler and birds will vanish.Edit: I can also see the spots where gauges in the VC should be, but aren't since the gauge file(s) aren't copied over yet."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
