July 28, 200619 yr I wonder if you can you the "Tower" feature to just monitor an airport with the radar etc., while NOT in multiplayer? In other words, to do a little planespotting when we get the AI up to snuff in FSX.

What would be even better - ability to control ai aircraft from the tower (ok, I know I have gone off the deep end here).Does anybody know if you will have the ability to exit the earth's atmosphere in an aircraft/spacecraft? There is a lot of talk about the stars and moon and the ability to place a camera out in space but I haven't heard anything about traveling in to space. Watching it now so don't>know what it's like. >>http://www.airsidetv.com/main/play.asp?date=7/28/2006>But what is the point with including 10000 stars? With the unaided eye only 5000 stars are visible at most.

July 29, 200619 yr "The Yale Bright Star Catalog catalogs the "naked eye visible stars", which they consider to be those with a magnitude of 6.5 or brighter. Those have been catalogued and listed, and there are 9110 entries in that list""But if you want to see all of them, you'll need ideal conditions: good eyes, several high altitude viewpoints in different parts of theearth, a moonless night, no aurora, and air that is absolutely still, clear and dry."Andy bhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannerbeta.jpg Andy Brockbank
July 29, 200619 yr Hey for those of you who can't get this video to work properly simply open Windows Media Player, choose File then Open URL then paste the following link:mms://70.85.182.98/airsidetv/fs10feature.wmvWorked beautifully. What an awesome video, felt like I was there!

With the>>unaided eye only 5000 stars are visible at most.>>Could it be you see more stars if you are in orbit....just a>thought. In some respect maybe. The atmosphere propably give some background light due to dust. But also in orbit you must look at the star through glas cover which would reflect some light and weaken the light you actually see with the eyes. This of course also apply to airplanes. Also in airplanes you have background lights. You surely won't be able to see 10000 stars from an airplane.I really think it would have been better to decrease the number of stars and use the CPU and GPU power to other things.
July 29, 200619 yr Author They will probably include an X-15 or SR-71 (or even a U2), which can all get way up there, perhaps where more stars can be seen.RH
July 29, 200619 yr I don't think it's concern. The time it takes to render a star which is essentially just a pixel on your screen is virtually zero, and if this next version keeps with tradition then there will be a stars.dat file which can be edited to have as few or as many stars as you please.
July 30, 200619 yr And if not, it could be cool just to monitor the traffic from tower, yesYeah, I'm just hoping that we can montior from the tower the AI traffic on the radar, that's all. I also have now heard two different reports as to whether or not the AI will have releastic sounds, like FShotseat FX. The second report I heard was that it will not, which if that is the case, is very disappointing. It really brings the immersion factor up ten fold at the airport, especially since ACES is already trying to do just that with the moving vehicles at the airports. Let's hope I'm wrong!Brian S.
July 30, 200619 yr AI traffic sounds have been improved, they just don't use all the sounds as user aircraft. As for monitoring AI traffic, it's not a supported scenario. There may be a way to hack it in but it's not a "feature".
