July 24, 200619 yr Moderator >Nice find Bill! Normal maps for scenery objects, sweet!Absolutely! Using 'normal maps' (aka: bump mapping), one need not create a huge mess of polys just to have the 'uber detail' on a scenery object! Fr. July 24, 200619 yr I wonder what format Martin Arts shipped these in.I think MS is getting away from BGL and moving to all-XML scenery files. Maybe the MS team had to do some processing of the files that Martin Arts sent to them.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
July 24, 200619 yr Thanks Bill --I note "3 to 5 LODs were created for each structure, and 4 maps for each material"It's good to see the multi-LOD mdls being used. It seems like it has been trial and error for scenery object designers using GMax FS9 gamepak to get LODs to show at reliable distances.scott s..
