Will there be DX10 cards for the AGP bus

Featured Replies

I now have a motherboard with AGP. I wonder if there will be a possibility to use DX10 on that? If not I would have to replace both MB videocard and OS (Win XP Home). For that I don't have money at least not now.

Hi,Don't think that any DX10 cards will be AGP. But nothing is out yet so we'll see.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/

I seriously doubt it. AGP bus is simply too slow to support the throughput that DX10 will need...PCIe is the way to go...

No more AGP + DX10 + FSX = new computer - money in bank.

I would also doubt that there will be DX10 cards for AGP. It's even hard nowadays to find mid to high-end cards for DX9. You would need to upgrade your OS for Vista anyway in order to see the DX10 improvements. And a new mainboard with PCI-E is just about $50.Pat

Trouble is a lot of (especially) older AGP boards are also Skt 478, PCIe boards tend to be skt 775, which means replacing the CPU as well, and the memory. Okay if you have the money to spend, I'm saving up for my new FSX/Vista PC now, but for people on a tight budget...

And then you need the new video card, or two if going sli... I can feel my wife's energy slowly melting my brain as I type.

I'm not expecting DX10 cards for anythign excpet PCIe. I just ordered my X800 XL finally to update my 9800PRO.I'll do a new build in early '07 or so. We don;t know when the DX10 patch for FSX will arrive either. Since I do little other gaming, I'll wait for at least the patch and Vista. I don't even know the date for Vista anymore.

I'd really like to know what performance difference you get when you replace your 9800 pro. (have the same card)
