First FSX Addon!

Featured Replies

PMDG has announced FSX updates and new products. No date or specific pricing yet.

The way I read the add is that it's a promise to update the product for FSX.Maybe, and that is pure speculation, they have seen early versions of FS-X and are confident that their product will work without tweaks. However, based on the release of FS2004 - I expect to see almost every add-on developer listing their products as "for FSX" or "compatible" within the next month or three. Then three months after the release we won't be able to load the forum for all the complaints about things which do not work. And incase anyone asks - I do have some of the Shockwave products and do intend to buy this one.

>Then three months after the release we won't be able to load>the forum for all the complaints about things which do not>work.>3 minutes you mean...

>Check out the link below. Is there any other company to claim>having addons for FSX?>>http://www.shockwaveproductions.com/store/wwiifighters/>>>DitopThis might sound like a silly question, but here goes. Is this addon like a game or just addon airplanes.Cheers all Flygirl>>

it's a plane what else?

>>Then three months after the release we won't be able to>load>>the forum for all the complaints about things which do not>>work.>>>3 minutes you mean...or in this day and age where things "somehow" leak and get released.. 3 days prior to release.

>it's a plane what else? There are things like combat sims with those types of airplanes, ALSO!!!:-grr Flygirl

its definitely an add on plane for fs9 and fsx ;)

PMDG specifically mentioned the Boeing 737 NGX (an FSX update to their 737 NG series) and, perhaps more importantly a brand new Airbus A321 for FSX exclusively, it would appear.

Hmm, new additions to Avsim Library claim to be FSX compatible either:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...atID=fs2004scenDoes it mean that all EZ-Scenery framework and AFCAD2 can be ported to FSX ???=S.V.=spell edit

Considering that ACES has specifically asked developers to not advertise any products as "FSX Compatible" I'm a bit leery about anyone's claim at this juncture... ;)

I agree it is quite early to claim, as noone out of NDA-bound loop can confirm whether it's true or not.On the other hand, I don't see why EZ objects cannot be supported in FSX. As for AFCAD2, Im quite happy with existing system, and I'd rather see an additional layer of complexity added to that, rather than a full overhaul.Well, we'll see the truth in a few monthsCheers,

Unfortunately AFCAD2 is not fully compatible with FS2004.Lee would have done a fully compatible version if the SDK was available when FS came out rather than several months after Lee released AFCAD2 to the public. We can see from the SDK that there are several properties for objects, like parking spots and taxiways, which are present in FS2004 but changing those values has no impact upon aircraft behavior.Lee chose to not include the ability to change those values to avoid confusing people. If those properties and values have an impact upon aircraft behavior in FSX, then AFCAD2 will not be able to make those changes.I'm anxiously awaiting the complete conversion of the Taxiway Signs to XML, so that they can be included and edited with the other XML based data. Unfortunately in FS2004, many airports still use older coding for those.Personally, I'm fairly certain AFCAD2 generated .BGL files wall be readable and usable in FSX. I'm just as certain that almost all of any advanced or improved AI behavior will not be able to be influenced by AFCAD2.That's one reason I'm doing all my new work with SceneGenX. At least they are still developing that program.Unfortunately, while SceneGenX can read and import AFCAD files, the AFCAD program will fatally corrupt any SceneGenX created .BGL file.

Indeed, I've not heard of anyone who's had any contact with him for many, many months. This time 'round, Lee could have been working on AFCAD during the entire beta test period, and would have had the benefit of the SDK from the beginning...
