May 20, 20197 yr I am a new Falcon owner and really enjoy the airplane! For my personal use, I have made some small enhancements to the autopilot popup, so that I can center the HDG bug by pushing in the HDG knob, and for good measure also added the missing click sounds to the VS wheel. If you would like a copy, contact me via PM with your email address.. Bert

The VS wheel between the seats clicks but the popup does not (without my fix..) As for the HDG knob, that is the way it works in other airplanes.. maybe the Falcon is different..? Who has the Pilot's Guide for a Collins or Sperry autopilot? Edited May 21, 20197 yr by Bert Pieke Bert

Ok -- hopefully the developer or someone else familiar with the Falcon see your question and answer it. In the meantime I will PM you. Our resident Falcon 50 expert Jim Barrett may be able to answer this question. I will see if I can contact him. I will also ask him about the HSI CRS knob which when pushed in some a/c will point the HSI course arrow to a VOR with the CDI centered (if in VLOC with a VOR tuned in). This is a quick way to get the course TO the VOR and also to identify what radial you are on by looking at the tail of the course arrow. Al Edited May 22, 20197 yr by ark
May 22, 20197 yr Heading and course sync are not possible with the original Falcon 50 APS-80 or 85 autopilot driving analog flight instruments. The heading bug and course selection (OBS) on the analog HSI are driven by electromechanical servos which can only be operated by physically rotating the heading or course knobs. For the same reason, an add-on GPS like the GTN750 cannot auto-adjust the course on the mechanical HSI as it can with an electronic HSI. The later Falcon 50EX was equipped with the Rockwell Collins Proline 4 glass cockpit, and I believe heading and course sync were implemented. Both features are standard on Proline 4 installations in other aircraft I have worked on. However I see no reason not to add heading or course sync for those who may want it, even if doing so would not be 100 percent realistic for an analog F50 Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist.
