Have you by any chance applied the other fixes in this thread. Before I did I had to start FS9 2 times and if I recall rundll32 was also running 2 instances. After almost 20 years now simming and reading all sorts of fixes, what works on one persons machine has no affect on anthers quite often, the massive possibel variations between PC set ups is just so huge. The good thing though is you have a performance boost 😃 maybe it will help someone else too. Thanks for the tip anyway.

No problem. I'll look into what's posted here.  I had to switch my computer out a few months ago as the mother board died in the old one.  That's when I first saw this problem.  After all the Microsoft updates applied that's when I started seeing this issue. After reading other threads I found what I wrote above and saw better performance than I ever saw before including on my old machine. I left it there after that.  I'll look into what's been written above and see how it works out.

I started having this issue as well when I reverted back to Win7 x64 a while ago. After some investigation I found a solution.

The issue is indeed the rundll32 and associated gameux.dll file located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64.

Renaming the file to gameux.dll.bak will inhibit it from ever running and that seems to solve the problem.

You can manually place shortcuts to your games in the "Games" start menu, as this will no longer automatically update with the gameux.dll disabled.

You'll need to take ownership of the file to be allowed to change its name.

Hope this helps.

That was exactly what my link to the article (above) explained. ☺️

I've experienced this as well over the years with Win7. Frankly I just got used to it. For me it's always after a re-boot. And, after a re-boot, it takes oddly much longer to load.

For me it's not an internet/firewall issue.
