FSX:SE freezes during every flight

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am having a large problem with my sim currently. I only fly the PMDG NGX. Every flight, without fail, FSX freezes during the cruise. I get no error message, no CTD, the sim just freezes. I can still hear it though.

How can I fix this?

Next time it happens..or rather next time you fly...does it 'unlock' after 8 mins or so?

There is a crash to desktop guide here, have a search for it.

FSX-Steam has a support app to verify that all Steam-related files are not corrupted, or are otherwise working properly:  I used it several times times in the past when I had FSX problems, and it did find bad files and re-installed them successfully.  (Keep in mind it will only verify original Steam files, but will not scan any add-on files).  Actually, you may want to try a re-install of the PMDG NGX first?

I have just reinstalled the whole game. Am going to try now.

I have got an issue where, as i am turning the aircraft let say helicopter will turn the then stop turning then turn quit fast (basically lagging through turn) makes landing impossible. Makes flying a helicopter impossible. it started happening with the default aircraft first then its now happening with my PMDG aircraft. Ive got an i7 processor Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti

You are running out of VAS.  FSUIPC can monitor your VAS.  See page 17, AVSIM CTD Guide (link in my signature).  It is easy to run out of VAS if you set your settings too high because you have a powerful computer.  FSX-SE and other 32 bit programs have up to 4GB's of VAS and high settings will eat it up fast, especially Autogen.

As the sound keeps playing and there is no (OOM) error message this doesn’t seem like a typical VAS issue.

However it sounds very much like the so-called “eight minute freeze” scenario which I think Luke was alluding to above and which I started experiencing quite frequently with FSX a couple of years ago. I can’t remember exactly what I did to resolve the problem at the time but I’m pretty sure I got rid of these freezes by following  some advice which I found on the HiFi forum, as I bookmarked the following webpage as being relevant to this issue:

If you are still having this problem it might be worth having a look at this and seeing if some of their suggestions help.

Hi bill,

I did manage to fix the problem. Annoyingly, what I actually did escaped me!
