Not sure if this is a P3D, Orbx or UK2000 problem. Have just re-installed my UK2000 airports after upgrading to P3Dv4.5, over FTX England and UK2000 airfields V3 (EGGP and EGCC unticked). When approaching either Rwy 09 or 27 at about 2.5 NM out, the sim freezes visually for around 10 seconds (engine sound continues). then abruptly P3D crashes. Tried in 2 different aircraft, same problem. When landing at nearby Manchester Xtreme, no problem. If I go into the Scenery library and untick Liverpool Xtreme, I can land at Liverpool with no problem, thus I am concluding the airport is the problem, rather than the sim or Orbx. Thanks for any suggestions offered.

Does the windows event viewer give any clues?

I suggest you buy the stunning new DD EGGP.

Have you disabled the FTX England version of EGGP Liverpool, AviatorMan? It is not clear from your opening post, as you refer to UK2000 VFR Airfields Volume 3. It may not make any difference, but I just want to check first.

I have three versions of EGGP Liverpool installed on my system - (1) the "default" 0rbx airport in the FTX England region; (2) the EGGP airport in the UK2000 VFR Airfields V3; (3) and the UK2000 Liverpool Xtreme. My system works for each of these three airports except the UK2000 Xtreme version. The configuration I setup when I wish to use the Xtreme airport, is I first run the Options program for the VFR Airfields V3, which allows you to disable any of the airports. I did this for Liverpool. Then when I run P3D I go to the Scenery LIbrary to make sure that Liverpool Xtreme box is ticked. This works for any other UK2000 Xtreme airport I have in any of the three UK2000 VFR Airfields areas. The only one it doesn't work for is Liverpool. l am not aware of the need to disable Orbx FTX airports, so have not done that. I have posted the issue on the UK2000 forum and hoping for a response soon.

I have had the exact same problem but at UK2000 Belfast and Jersey, however I don't think it is a problem of UK2000 as I have also had the same problems with RC Design ESGG and also Aerosoft LFPO. This has all been over the last2 years or so and not all at the same time and with various versions of P3D upto v4.4. The last time I had this problem was with UK2000 Jersey just before I updated to P3Dv4.5 and as I had installed Jersey via the XML method with Lobysoft's Addon program I copied the .xml file into the P3Dv4.5 addons folder and everything is working properly with having to reinstall the UK2000 software. This seems top point to a problem with P3D and I seem to remember that on one of the earlier occasions I re-ordered the offending scenery  within the Addon Organiser program and that seemed to cure the problem.

I am also running most of the Orbx software including FTX England but disabling them did not make any difference for me.
