export to google earth not working

Featured Replies

when I hit the button the program just stalls with win 10 circle running indefinitely.

how do I go about troubleshooting it?

Have you looked up into the manuals?. Sometimes answers can be found there. Have not tried this new feature yet (I always add my addon airports manually to Google Earth myself), but it looks interesting.

Hi ,

it takes a while to scan the scenery library. Especially when it is dealing with a large library, on hard disks? It should take ballpark about as long as Makerunways takes to scan your simulator, it basically does the same thing.

Make sure that the checkbox "Exclude collections..." is checked.

Best regards

The library is indeed massive, so I allowed it to run for more than half an hour... still no go.

At this point task manager showed about 30% cpu activity and a whopping 12Gb of ram used by the program.

I have to say I really like the feature. I maintain manually a similar file but things tend to go amiss .

How big is it exactly?

And did you run MakeRunways at some point, do you know how long that program takes to complete?

I wouldn't rule out an endless loop, but I have no idea what could be causing it.

Yes, makerunways will do its thing in a matter of minutes. I'd say no more than 7-8. I had let the program run at least 3-4 times longer than that.

The scenery.cfg has about 350 entries (including the default) and there are about 60-70 additional xml entries.

The scenery entries also include mesh and terrain, exclude folders and traffic files.

Edit:

just measured - took makerunways 3 minutes to complete, so its almost certain the utility had gone into some sort of endless loop. are there any log files it generates?

Hi,

this is odd. Please send me an email, I will add some kind of progress counter, so you can check if it is at least doing "something".

I'm having the same problem, Oliver.

It works for a small selection of active airports. However, when loading all of my third party scenery, it gets stuck.

"Exclude collections..." is checked and makerwys takes just 5 mins.

Great addition to P4AO, btw. It has reminded me of some airports I forgotten I had!

P.S. Just noted that P4AO used all 32GB of installed RAM when running the export to Google Earth function with all third party scenery activated.

Hi,

this is caused by BGL files that my scenery scanner doesn't like. I already have a fixed version - would you mind testing it? I could send a link via PM.

Thanks very much, works a treat!

Cheeky request, would it be possible to include the file location of the airport in the GE Placemark 'Description' field in a future update, please?
Reasoning: It would help not only locate the scenery, but give a clue as to who created it.

Thanks again.

Sure, why not. It is empty anyway. Sent you a PM.

Hello!

I'm using the latest version of the tool, I'm trying to generate the .KMZ file, but apparently nothing is happening. When I click the button I see the green progress bar work, but after a few seconds it vanishes and nothing happens. I tried to search for a *.KMZ file in my drivers, but nothing is found. Any ideas what's wrong?

Thank you!

Hi,

what simulator are you using it with? V3, V4 or V5?

The file should be here:
C:\Users\...\Documents\P4AO_Google_Earth_Destinations.kml

I found it, thank you! I use v4.5 HF2.

Something strange happened, though. The placemarks seem to be appearing all over the equator line, and not in their expected location.
