Question about AFCADs

Featured Replies

I need to update the AFCADs for KBUF and Digital Design's Liverpool (Liverpool keeps uninstalling on its own).  I have the AFCADs.  Please tell me where these original AFCADs are located in P3d so that I can "OFF" the originals and replace them with the updated ones.  I've never done this so I do not know where they are located.  I've looked pretty much everywhere but to no avail.  The Digital Design Liverpool is the most important one.

Thanks,

Stan

The base data is actually embedded in the stock scenery bgl files, so in a default config there is nothing to disable.  Part of the airport file (aka AFCAD, AFX, ADE) created by any of the common tools is an exclude for the base layer data.

Now if you have other add-ons installed for that airport, that's different.  The most common unrealized hiding spot for an extraneous airport file is if you use MyTraffic, which included hundreds of airport files for airports around the world.

There is a good utility called Simple Airport Scanner on the scruffyduck website that will show you every airport file active for a particular airfield.

Regards

To which folder may I move my new AFCADs so that they will take effect?  I have both of them and I would like to put them somewhere where they will be activated.

Stan

They can be in any active scenery area that's at/above the layer for any add-on scenery used for the region and airport.  I have a folder on my P3D drive specifically for standalone airport files...X:\Bobs ADE and the bgls go into a subfolder there named scenery.  You have to add a scenery layer that points to that folder, either manually in the sim in the Scenery Library menu or with a 3rd-party tool like Lorby-SI's P3D Addon Manager.  On my setup, that folder sits close to the top in the layer order, only below a couple of library entries.

I like your idea of creating a separate file and adding it to the Scenery Library.  Thanks for the idea.  I'll try that.

Stan

Hi Stan,

ORBX stuff can be another source of conflicts.. They have a lot of modified fields, especially with OLC and Regions. Some are a problem and some are not. If you have an issue it's worth a look at the ORBX folder for conflicts and turn them off.

I have an Addon Scenery folder I use for my modified fields. HTH!

Yes, Gerald.  I'm suspecting my ORBX England scenery may be what's causing Liverpool revert to default after numerous installations.  I'll try turning that off as well.

Stan

ADE for P3D is free open up your addon airport AFCAD then in tools menu drop down open File Priority Analyzer then scan, it will show all the airport BGL`s for that airport in the sim and you can select one then disable it and yes it more than likely an ORBX one.

If you bought Liverpool from Simmarket, then the ADEX file is located here (of course your P3DV4 may be somewhere else):

"E:\Prepar3D v4\SimMarket\Digital Design-Liverpool P3Dv4\data\scenery"

I have modified the Digital Design Liverpool AFD file, and it is working fine in the Scenery folder mentioned by Gary in the above post. I suspect that you have some other Liverpool AFD file interfering.
