August 19, 20196 yr Hello I am ordering a new PC for use with P3Dv4.5 . To be honest, I really don't know anything about computers and hardware - I just enjoy flight simming. I would be very happy if you could look through the specs of my upcoming PC and voice your opinion. Is there anything I should add or change? Should anything be left out? Specs: Motherboard: Asus TUF Z390 Plus CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-9700KF GPU: Asus GeForce® RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 Power supply: Corsair TX650M 650W 80plus gold Primary SSD: 2000GB SSD Intel 660P M.2 NVMe Secondary SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD RAM: 32GB DDR4-3000 Corsair Vengeance XMP RAM Network: Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 Cooling: Corsair H100 240mm Hydro Monitor: 27'' Asus VG278QR - FullHD - 1ms - 165Hz Gaming - G-Sync comp. August 19, 20196 yr That kit should be more than adequate for P3D and then some! I’m getting very good to excellent performance with an i7 8700k @ 4.8ghz, GTX 1080ti and 16gb of 3000mhz DDR 4 ram. I avg 45fps in urban areas such as Heathrow and 60+ everywhere else and that’s in the PMDG 737 with TrackIR, FTX Global, EU & US Landclass, AS & ASCA, Envtex+Envshade, GSX2, Ut2 and a plethora or airports and other addons so you should be golden Captain. August 20, 20196 yr Looks good to me. My advice: replace PSU with 850W Mike Mike Lab WIN10 / I7-6700K HT ON / GTX980 / 16 GB RAM / 3 x SAMSUNG EVO 1TB SSD / 1 X WD BLACK 2TB HDD / 32" 60hz Monitor @ 2560x1440 / P3Dv4.4 No AM, Locked to 59 FPS, VSync ON, Triple buffering enabled Process Lasso used to unload all other applications than P3D running on core 0
August 20, 20196 yr Mikelab6, Why??? I am considering much the same upgrade except I am opting for the i9-9900k, Noctua NH-D15 cooler and 32gb 3200 RAM. All my googling has told me that 650 watts is going to be ample. I was going to up the ante, to 750watts, but, if you can tell me why I am going to need 850watts, I would be grateful. RAM 32gb Corsair Vengeance (2x16) 3200mhz. 1 x Gigabyte Aorus GTX1080ti Extreme and a 1200watt PSU. 1 x 1tb SSD 3 x 240BG SSD and 4 x 2TB HDD OS Win 10 Pro 64bit. Simulators ... FS2004/P3Dv4.5/Xplane.DCS/Aeroflyfs2...MSFS to come for sure.
August 20, 20196 yr Hi Tony, A 750W PSU should be more than adequate. Just make sure it's a Gold (or higher) certification. Modular is a good option as well since it keeps cable clutter to a minimum. Regards Tony If you want to upgrade your video card to a RTX 2080ti in the future, the required power will be higher and 650 Watts will not be enough. Choose a power supply that will be used at around 75% max or lower of it's full capacity to avoid problems. Will you drive your car every day at 6000 RPM ? Most of the watts are used by the video card (amperage). Look and compare the 12 Volts rail specification (amperage) of different power supplies and always choose a quality brand for the power supply. Search for reviews on the net. August 21, 20196 yr Moderator Chris, I note you've chosen a 27" monitor (2560*1440) which isn't very large. If your budget allows have you considered a 32" UHD (3840*2160) monitor? You would need a 2080 or 2080Ti which wil push the cost up. UHD makes a virtual cockpit very crisp. Just thinking about long-term planning. In all other respects your chosen components look fine.
