Mike that PC will rock...trust me...you can slip in the floppies faster than any CPU...switch scenery and aircraft on the fly, so to speak :-)What museum you got that from? LOLOh yes 5.25 inch wow

I don't have a clue but please let me know. I've still got one in the basement (Circa 1984-85). It's complete with two floppy drives, a 10MB HDD, and a full 640K of memory. Do you think I'll have enough disk space for FSX?Doug

Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. Klaatu barada nickto.

1984-85? Heck back then my rig didn't even have a hard drive! All floppys...5.25's of course.

After my FS9 experience I think I will wait till after launch and see what hardware the game is optimised for. With FS9, many swear that ATI cards were better than Nvidia for FS and I tend to agree with that general statement. But who knows what card or config would run FSX better, no one will until well after release. My box, which is dated now, can hold on for another year and by that time I would guess that a new custom PC with VISTA pre-installed would probably be the smart choice. But thats just a guess.

>Do you think my PC will be fine? Why? Well I probably will be going with a really high end system That is Dx10 based. If I'm going to enjoy fsx I want it all. Also a majorupgrade now will be a waste of money. #### there might be triple coresout by then. What I really need is a time machine so I can jump forward to the dayit comes out.

Actually, I lied :-(. After posting that I went down to the basement and took a look. I only have one floppy in the IBM. If memory serves me right it's only the machines with no HDD's that had two floppies. Some of the HDD's were only 5MB but since I was the boss they gave me the top-of-the-line model :-).Doug

This is exacly why M$ needs to release an OPTIMIZED (ALL Sliders Maxed) version for the XBOX 360!Then instead of $2000 we all spend $500 and spend time flying and NOT tweaking, which with the PC versions is a TOTAL waste of time! We can use our Big Screen TVS at 1080i AWESOME!If M$ has half a brain they will do this!Barry

I would not upgrade anything until we know the final specs from MS. In fact I wouldn't bother upgrading until you have it in your hands and have installed and tried it on your existing system for a couple of weeks so that you can find needs updating (ie GFX card, RAM, CPU) before you update. Also, who knows what new hardware will be onsale by the time FSX hits the door matt. DirectX 10 hardware is to come yet... In one of the Gamespot interviews there was a mention of Tripple Core CPU's so lots of new stuff to come.If you are going to upgrade, remember that your computer will be fine. It is just the crucial componants like Motherboard, Harddrives, GFX cards, RAM and CPU that will need updating.

The exception to the "Computer" is things like the Keyboard, Mouse and Case.

Not quite. My system is due an upgrade anyway (it's going on 3 years old with some components going on 10 years).I would not buy/build a new machine purely for FS, nor will I take the specs for FS into account when designing a new one. What I rather do is decide at some point what level of technology gives me the best value for money and design the most reliable machine using that level of technology (placing reliability and durability over raw performance because I want it to last more than a year or so). That's the machine that will get built, and if it runs FS better than the one I have now so much the better.
