New Aircraft Search, Looking for Feedback

Featured Replies

Hello fellow simmers!

I thought I'd treat myself to some P3D add-ons, probably in the form of aircraft, and thought I'd seek some current opinions. I'm looking at the Aerosoft CRJ, or possible the PMDG 747-8 expansion. The latter I'm not sure if there are enough changes from the base package to make the $70 price tag worth while, and the former I know had some issues in the beginning. I'm unsure if those issues have been addressed since then.

So, thoughts on these aircraft? Any other out of the box stuff I should be looking at? I'm a true blue flight sim fanatic, so I have a ton of stuff, but always looking for suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your time to give me some feedback.

Primarily an airline flier with the FSL 320/319, PMDG 737/747-4, Majestic Dash, LH Maddog (though have issues with this one), and TFDi 717.

quality wings 787 has been fun for me.  I would give that a try.  how do you like the EFDi 717?

Should have got the urge to treat yourself  last week during the numerous sales over  labor day. you're flying all commercial,  why not try something different. ..... bizjets. Flysimware Lear or Falcon for instance.

Can't recommend the CRJ700/900. Still having difficulties as evidenced by their forum. And Digital  Aviation treats it as a part time project.

I did pick up the 787 recently and like that very much. The 717 I'm on the fence about. I used to really like it, but there are some parts that are a bit flaky, and the crashing while changing views is a bit of a deal breaker for me. I tend to do that a lot and it will randomly crash to the desktop.

Bummer on the CRJ, but I am tempted by the bizjets. Pictures look a bit dated though, how is it in the sim? You prefer one over the other?

It appears that you have most of the predominate aircraft, especially the higher-fidelity options currently available.

I didn't see the PMDG 777 on your list, if you don't have it I would strongly suggest it. If you're looking for old and slow, their DC-6 is amazing. QW recently released their 757 for P3D, it's not PMDG level (in my opinion), but it's not bad. I have both the CS and QW versions, there are things about each that I like and dislike...

I can't really think of any other airliner addons that you don't already have.

If you feel the need for speed, I'd go for the Flysimware Lear 35.... I posted a bunch more pics in the screenshot forum.  It's analogue gauges, you'll have to work with this addon, no auto throttle 🙂

Otherwise I'd suggest you try some general aviation pistons...maybe the A2A Bonanza or Comanche....  both are really well done.  I'd recommend the old Realair Lancair Legacy but it's darn near impossible to find it.  You can always go to their server site and see if you meet any of the criteria to download the Legacy: http://realairsimulations.net/

Thank you for the feedback. Anyone have the 747-8 expansion? Is there enough value for the price tag over the base package?

Also, thanks for the GA advise Ryan. What about the Vertex, any experience with that?
