September 6, 200619 yr Does FSX retain the jumping mountains in the distance we've all become accustom to in FS9???
September 6, 200619 yr Hopefully we can get someone that'll take a real look at this. If after 3 years something basic as this hasn't been addressed (especially seeing graphics were the main focus), it would really call into question the effort made on graphics. Don't get me wrong I do see an improvement but something like this should have been fixed (I'm not passing judgment as this hasn't officially been confirmed)... Another thing I noticed in FS9 when flying over the western deserts of the US is a ripping of texture in the distance (you notice it at higher altitudes as the scenery updates). Is this still the case in FSX???

September 7, 200619 yr Hi Mace,It's the situation in FS04 when mountains are in the distance and low-res and the edges flicker against the sky until the textures fill in.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

September 7, 200619 yr The Earth's curvature kind of takes care of this. In FS9, the Earth was basically flat and so the terrain would be theoretically visible for an infinite distance except that the far clip plane cut it off. The numerical imprecision of the clipping caused the flickering. Now that FS models the curvature of the Earth, the terrain curves out of sight before reaching the far clip plane so the flickering is no longer visible.-Adam
September 7, 200619 yr Commercial Member I just did a test in Beta 3 of FSX.I noticed a tad bit of flickering on a couple of the clouds in the distance that were touching mountains, but compared to FS2004 the jaggies are basically gone.Chrs,Bryan B. September 7, 200619 yr "Now that FS models the curvature of the Earth"This needs to be confirmed by Aces or 'Tdragger'. I've seen screenshots that suggest this but it's well known little if anything has been done to the underlying elements of FSX over what was done with FS9. What you

September 7, 200619 yr Here are a few images to confirm that curvature of the earth is modeled. Took me forever to climb to 80,000' in that ultralight!
