You can't get more real than real world AI traffic, guided by controllers in the real world, flying real world stars/sids etc. Sure, your own aircraft is "uncontrolled", but like I said I'm not interested in ATC (at launch), I just want the FS2020 skies/airports populated with real world traffic. October 15, 20196 yr @MatthewS I agree totally, flying in XPlane with RealTraffic plugin and listening to Live ATC is an awesome experience.. Edited October 15, 20196 yr by Noooch

October 15, 20196 yr As other said, if real traffic is used, the best option is left the SIM take the control of it, and the data of the flight from the source. But in that case, forget about aircrafts taxing in most of your airports. And there isn’t any freeware source right now with the coverage of FR24. Edited October 15, 20196 yr by aleex
October 15, 20196 yr I don't get all the fuss. Having real world traffic and being interactive with ATC, the users aircraft and maybe even with the weather and environment isn't mutually exclusive. I mean we already have that with P3D. The only price you will pay is it will be off-sync with the real world flight once the Sim handles the traffic (after spawning according to real world paramaters). DLH430 will maybe land 5 min late and take a different gate as the real world DLH430. Amadeo Araujo

If the new FS can read weather data and translate it into the weather system in the simulator (the weather system than reacts by Simulator parameters in real time) than surely the same can be done to traffic. This would be the best system. Along with the live tracking data, we also simply have departure and destination data with type and routing. If there was a way to translate that to the sim so it operates in the more traditional method, that'd be the ultimate compromise. Once they leave the gate or ramp at the filed departure time, they simply become part of the sim's environment, controlled by the sim just like any other AI system. Then mix in some randomized (depending on airport size) VFR traffic fully sim generated. Edited October 15, 20196 yr by bonchie

That is what LorbyLiveTraffic does in "Simulator AI" mode (the randomized VFR traffic will be added in the next version). So the possibility is there, and it is not particularly hard to implement either. But as someone previously said, that kind of data isn't available free of charge. Unless Microsoft implements their own platform for collecting ADS-B datasets and matching them to actual aircraft and flights, they would have to purchase that service from others - and pass the cost on to the end user. IMO the question here is not if it is possible or if we want it - it is how much extra are we willing to pay for it. Best regards Edited October 15, 20196 yr by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
October 15, 20196 yr @Lorby_SI The guys who tried the sim at the Preview Event said that live traffic is displayed in the game menu in real time on a map. That means they already have access to it.

We will never know about the actual composition. But IMHO a service like live traffic can't be covered with a lump sum - and it would be absent in the "offline mode", right? So no traffic for people who don't want to stay online or have a less than ideal connection? Doesn't that suggest an "offline traffic" system too? Maybe more information will come in the discovery series in the next months. Best regards LORBY-SI

You can find this info on youtube 😉 PS: If I am not mistaken, I think even a developper (maybe Lionel?) described it saying that if you can click on an aircraft on the map, there is an option where you can do the exact same flight with the route pre-entered in your FMC!
