Just a heads up, DCS is having an autumn sale starting today where the majority of their modules/maps/campaigns are 50% off.  If you would like a recommendation or two let me know what your preference is and I will try to help out  (props, jets, helicopters, ground attack, dogfighting, multi-role, super complex modules or easy to learn modules)

Props, jets for ifr...mix of easy and complex.

Thanks!

If you are looking for a trainer and are just interested in the non-combat aspects and just want to fly IFR then the L-39 and YAK-52.  I do not own the 52 but the 39 is a well done module.  It actually has an IFR training hood you can put up that forces you to use your instruments.  The L-39 has a good campaign that can be purchased (Kursant).  It is challenging in a by the numbers standpoint   Both are on the easy side from a complexity stand point.  I would put the F-5 as being slightly more complex.  Most the more modern vehicles have INS tied together with GPS so are a more complex from a system standpoint but navigating in them isn't much of a challenge unless you just dont use those features.  The AJS-37 Viggen is an exception (though not very modern).  It is very well done but kind of unique, but has a ground radar and INS system that requires you to perform position fixes (visual or radar) to update the INS.   The grim reapers youtube channel has an excellent selection of training material for all of them.  They also have buyers guide for every module so you can see what you are getting before you buy.  Finally, the Persian Gulf and Nevada maps are both well done.  Good luck!

That's the thing about VR. It depends on the sim, and what it has available. fsx With flyinside is nice. But xplane with Avitab, is for IFR. all your charts, imported ifr moving maps, airport information. Everything is there, and can bring in flight plans, the only thing is how good is your memory in remembering atc commands. Even that I've gotten good at quick shorthand in the avitab notepad for that using the oculus controller

I have all those imported into FSX its a native Flyinside feature.

it was implemented years ago before xplane11 was even released

Since this is an "experience" thread, I'll share some of mine.

I recently set out to fly some of the "world's hardest approaches" in VR. Yesterday was Kai Tak, with FlyTampa's scenery and the good ol' 747-400 (PMDG). Oh, dear! If you havent tried it, do it! Mind-blowing to the say the least.

I've flown Toncontin, Paro and Innsbruck rwy 08 circle to land too. As someone who's flown FS since the dawn of time, I really can't believe how cool PC flying has become.

Yes indeed I have the Kai Tak scenery, very immersive airport with all those tubeliners parked there. Nothing beats the feeling of banking a heavy along the direction lights below over those buildings.

I wish there was some sort of ai traffic schedule for it. I actually found myself watching a documentary of Kai Tak afterwards.

I swear I struggled to get some traffic out there, and never succeeded.

According to the manual it's possible to redirect from Hong Kong intl via bgl files, but it's sparse on details on how
