September 17, 200619 yr Abit LC7 mobo with P4 2.8 Hyperthreading, 512mb DDR,Geforce Fx5900, Windows XP Media Center editionI've got all the sliders up the whole way. FS9 works great with almost everything turned up.http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/9971/fsxvb9.jpgDupo
September 17, 200619 yr Well this is not FS9, your system can in no way handle FSX on highest settings. Set the water settings to low and the rest of the sliders to sparse and you should be fine. Even with these "low" settings FSX will have more buildings and autogen than FS9 and will look better too. Also use some AA and AF it will smooth things out and look better.
September 17, 200619 yr I have the FX5900 Ultra and water settings to the higest has no effect whatsoever. I have set it to low and high..no change. I suspect the water is done by the Video card rather than the CPU.However, settings for Autogen and Traffic has the max effect.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
September 17, 200619 yr Weird, on my system water on highest setting makes fps go down from a steady 26 to 10-13 with stutters. I have all other settings on sparse.
September 17, 200619 yr Guys, guys, guys,The FSX beta HAS NOT BEEN OPTIMIZED YET, per ACES. :-) That's about 99.9% of your issues. Jeff D. September 17, 200619 yr Commercial Member You're triggering the engine's automatic LOD (level of detal) scaling. It's eliminating scenery to keep FPS up - that's why you're seeing blurred terrain, no autogen etc. Your machine can't handle what you're asking the sim to do. September 17, 200619 yr What Ryan said, plus, if you through too much stuff at the video card and it runs low on memory (entirely possible with sliders maxed unless you have a 1 GB or better card), it will literally throw textures away and not render them.
September 17, 200619 yr do a google search for "fx5900 DX9" I found many instances where people who used this card on DX9 games were not happy with it's visuals or performance.fwiw
September 17, 200619 yr Uhhhh, it looks like crap because your PC is years old... Running FS9 at full settings is a totally different animal than FSX. FSX is what, about 3 years after FS9?!?! Computers in general have changed A LOT in 3 years! Don't expect a brand new version to run beautiful on your 3 year old machine.... | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 17, 200619 yr well there you go peeps pop out again and buy a new comp.my god yours is 3 yrs old!!!!!!!!and of course all the addon's you have bought to make fs9 half decent are now old hat!all your time spent tweeking, season this season that, how to cure the CTD.then the patch plus the rest of the hassle just to do a flight with what was a half cocked release with aircraft from FS98 and still the same in this next one. but hang on, just you wait and see bet very soon new stuff pops up just made only for fsx will hit the web THEN START AGAIN.well sorry all the hype (BS)is not getting my wallet out,why because these improvements should of come out with THE BLOODY BIG HYPED A CENTURY OF FLIGHT.! Howard
September 18, 200619 yr Is this going to happen to everythread now?You can't be a sim pilot with out the plane, and you can't get off the ground without tuning the engine.I like throwing money at my hobbies, that's what makes them... Hobbies.<<
September 18, 200619 yr Try turning your water settings down to High 1.x, this will free some significant system resources and allow the FSX LOD engine to run a bit smoother. _______________________________________Nick Preston :-kewl http://www.eaglesoftdg.com/staff_Images/teamsig1.gif
September 18, 200619 yr Right, it couldn't have anything to do with the fact a beta tester just also told you guys the build you all have is not optimized either. You might wait for the gold version before deciding just how much money you're going to throw into a new system before DX10 comes out.Make sense? September 18, 200619 yr Yes, all these posts will stop once FSX is finally released. You will all marvel at how wonderful it runs on your system and there will be peace and harmony throughout the World......or maybe not.
September 18, 200619 yr hehehe...i figured it out...Water settings combined with a lack of turning vsync off with a lack of any aa/af on at all.....oh yeah, and my computer is years old, but it runs some of the newest stuff pretty darn good...there's sacrifices to be made, but at least it doesn't look like that picture anymore....Dupo
