November 15, 20196 yr Author Auto rudder off in P3D, same behavior. Even with today's update from PMDG, the plane behaves exactly the same way. Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
November 15, 20196 yr Just a little project to get the coffee infused blood into the last remaining brain cells. ☕ 😉 I don't own the pmdg but the following lua does work on other aircraft, works quite well. It might be worth a try. As a handicapped person I make things like this to adapt quite often. Registered FSUIPC is required. In a nutshell - if the aircraft is on the ground then send the aileron axis to the tiller axis. -- © Roman Stoviak (spokes2112) 15NOV19 null = 100 -- user adjustable aileron null value, for joystick noise pwr = 0 function steering_pwr (offset, value) -- assign on/off ground to a variable pwr = value end function steering (offset, value) if math.abs(value) > null and pwr == 1 then -- aileron axis is ouside of null and plane is on ground value = value * -1 -- reverse the aileron value for proper tiller value ipc.control(64136, value) -- send the reversed aileron axis to steering tiller else if math.abs(value) < null or pwr == 0 then ipc.control(64136, 0) -- center the steering tiller if not on the ground or inside of null zone end end end event.offset(0x366, "UW", "steering_pwr") -- detect on/off ground changes event.offset(0xBB6, "SW", "steering") -- detect aileron axis changes FS RTWR SHRS F-111 JoinFS Little Navmap
November 15, 20196 yr Author Thanks Roman. Where do I put this precisely? I don't see anything being commented out, are these completely new lines of code adding this functionality? I also received a word that the auto rudder issue is officially recognized as a bug, but there's no fix for it yet. Jacek G. November 15, 20196 yr As much as I enjoy the new NGXu, the ground handling at low speed is horribly unrealistic. I don’t use AutoR but I do use rudder pedals to steer, and at low speeds the over-response of the rudder steering is a major buzzkill. But get the speed up a bit and the behavior changes. To me, that is a bug. The code goes into a .lua file (i.e. "steering.lua") in the Modules subfolder of your main P3D folder. You also need to invoke it, either globally or by-aircraft, in the fsuipc.ini file.
