How does one start a poll? I would be interested in polling how many people requesting TIR for MSFT 2020 have actually tried VR. Also would like to pole how many VR naysayers in general have tried it.

  • This was me when I tried TIR for the first time: "Cool...I don't have to use the hat switch anymore."
  • This was me when I turned the hdg bug on my physical panel for the first time. "Cool...I can actually turn the knob."
  • This was me when I tried VR for the first time...and every time since: "Wow...it's like I'm sitting inside the fing plane!"

You'll just end up causing controversy here, and the thread will almost certainly be locked. Consider joining the facebook VR Aviators group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1358782704314077

Before I discovered VR, I tried TrackIR for some time. It may be nice for looking out of the side windows. However, when it comes to instrument flight, the permanent squinting hurts my eyes. I cannot recommend it.

Funny, I don't see many TIR naysayers. I think because TIR doesn't replace having a physical cockpit...likely most cockpit builders initially started with TIR. However, they see VR as a menace that could replace the need for a physical cockpit...and their fears are justified.

Please just stop! For just a couple of your posts, can you discuss anything else? There are other elements in MSFS worthy of discussing.
You are drowning threads with your obsessiveness over VR.

It appears that VR is being worked on / will be worked on with the intent to implement it properly.
Your multiple posts won't make it happen any quicker or better, nor convince everyone that your way is the only way to fly in flight sim.

Thank you.

Who cares about anything else if there isn't VR? That is what you guys who don't fly VR don't seem to grasp.

I'm tempted to try VR but have yet to pull the trigger. I am happy with TIR but you should definitely use a camera program with it (e.g. EZCA or ChasePlane).

Actually...I went from TIR to a full cockpit build. After tyring VR, my cockpit build is now in the closet.

I'm much more concerned on whether they are going to accurately model the ATROCIOUS traffic at the Dunkin Donuts by the community college during rush hour. There's no way to turn left across that interminable crawl of cars, so you have to go all the way down to the light, drive through the strip mall parking lot, and cross over to the Dunkin. It almost makes the drive thru lane NOT WORTH IT and if I can't fly over this scenario in the new sim, what's the point of anything?

I have both TIR and VR (Reverb and Rift S). I've had TIR for probably 15 years and like it. I've had VR for the last 6 months. VR is a really immersive way to sim but you better have a decent system to run it on because in very intense scenery or heavy weather it can bog down quickly. I use P3Dv4, X-Plane, and DCS. None were designed with VR in mind. It was added as an afterthought. I don't know if designing the sim from the ground up with VR in mind is going to make a difference or not. With all the wants I see on these posts for MSFS 2020, it's going to cost about $500 out of the box. Everyone wants as default things we have been paying for as addons for quite a while now.

That's nonsense. I care about a lot more important things and I do use VR.
