When I read "environment artist" I thought this must be the job for the guy with a PhD in trees. But industrial design is great as well. Come to think of it, we haven't seen any industrial structures yet, apart from warehouses maybe. When will they advertise a vacancy for a specialist in churches?

Sounds like they need some textures for "offline" mode.

Cheers, Rob.

Photogrammetry buildings need work as well.

FYI if anyone is interested but be warned you need to have 32GB RAM or more to even be considered for the position.

I can buy more RAM but where do I plug it in? The thought is eye watering....

It's called RAM for a reason 😉

Church modeling intrigues me too. Unthinkable to cover Europe without the churches which all have  their personality. Will they have generic models for romanesque, gothic, modernist etc. churches, cathedrals and basilicas 😀  ? Or can their magic  render all of them as they are ?

Even in online mode, Bing is not going to give you all the details like building façades, models of flora and fauna, airport components, etc.

A combination of what we've seen, how they've said Bing works, and how satellites work. For non-photogrammetry cities, some clips have shown that the facades aren't as tailored to the city as could be. It's standard flight-sim autogen for the facades. They've said Bing gives them roof size and color. This all makes sense as satellite imagery is only going to give you top-down details. They've shown elephants and flamingos, they didn't get those from Bing. Someone modeled them. They need people to work on the Z axis.

Bing maybe not, Google will as they have vans covering the streets taking detailed pictures ...

How would 360° photos help Asobo with scenery accuracy? There's not nearly enough data to build anything meaningful/consistent.

Regardless, Bing does have their own street view.
