Question for fellow GSX users.

Featured Replies

I've been using GSX for several years now. It is one of my favorite addons. Every time I use it, I find myself asking this one silly little question. Maybe if I get an answer, I'll stop thinking about it.

Does anyone actually use GSX by choosing the menu options in the sequence that they are in the menu?

I always start a flight with an empty, dark airplane. I leave the plane cold and call for the fuel truck first (option #3 in the menu) so it gets a head start. After calling the fuel truck, I hit option 2 for catering then option 6 for the jetway (sometimes, I do this first). Next up is option 4 for boarding, and then option 5 to call for push back after all of the pre-flight is done. So... It's usually 3-2-6-4-5 or 6-3-2-4-5 for me.

I'm not complaining about it, or asking FSDT to change it. I have never used option 1 first and I am just curious if I am the only one who has never started a flight by de-boarding the passengers first? I must be semi OCD or something... lol.

No, perfectly normal.

That is basically what I do. Fuel, catering, Jetway, stairs, LOAD Passengers, then pushback.

Option 1 deboard only once arrived at destination after Jetways and stairs.

Completely up to your preference, I would say.

I usually operate stairs/jetways and call up fuel truck once I load up. Doesn't even matter the order. Then, if the flight has meal service I will call up catering. I just wish that flight and cabin crew would board when you connect the bridge or stairs.

I get your point .Why not layer the order in a cold way?  Normally stairs or jetway is absolute first entry. Might be how things got developed or maybe just not planned to be.

I only call the boarding.

So then everything else happens automatically (cargo, catering and fuel) 😉

LOL... No fair using features to avoid confusion. 😄

I'm a control freak, too. Letting the program work by itself is not an option. What if I decide I don't want one of the services? Then what? It would be a travesty if I couldn't stop one.

I have never let it work automatically ( in fact, I didn't even know it could), as I use FS2Crew and the option to load passengers only comes after about 30 minutes and that does not leave enough time to load a 747 with fuel. So all the peripherals are done first.

I start with fuel and catering, when done it's boarding time. If there's a jetway available I will start with, some models like FSL will stop cargo loading if refueling starts so, I am more comfortable with starting boarding after refueling is complete, this will take close to an hour time BTW.

That's odd. I use FS2Crew as well and the boarding time is always perfect.

FS2Crew has a 25 minute timer. I setup my flights to start 35 before push back. I leave the plane (NGXu) cold and dark while I call for fuel, catering, and the jetway. As soon as I close the doors for the caterers, I start the FS2Crew preflight. When the FA asks if it's okay to start boarding, I tell her yes and call GSX boarding. GSX is usually beeping at me to close the door a minute or two before the FA asks if it's okay to close it. Never had a problem.

It's actually simple!

You are using a 737 and I am using a 747 (as I mentioned above), which is 60 minutes for a full cycle.

I usually get frustrated with how long it’s taking and end up just loading through the aircraft menu so I can get going.
