MS/ASOBO May You Please Add A Tractor?

Why stop at tractors? Why not put the ISS in orbit and have it be visible at night?

That sounds good to me, especially since you'd be able to see it occasionally at night flying high.

I'd love to see random additional traffic on the ground, like mowers at airports and farm tractors working in fields.  If you never fly below 30,000 feet you won't see them anyway, and might not understand why they'd be useful.  But I've seen real tractors in fields from real light aircraft, and it's a cool part of the overall scenery.

Of course, those tractors should be at work in the fields at the right season, if not this is a no buy!

Well, FS20/FS2020 has tractors...

That's the short form for Farming Simulator.

I remember the disdainful pout of some when FSX brought us the road traffic. Snobbery if any, never understood that. Any relief, and a tractor along a flat airport perimeter is a relief of sort and, even better, any moving vehicle helps only to the proverbial immersion but also to the sense of depth.

You mean no tractors in Winter? 😄

Better that those tractors should be towing the right kind of equipment for the season.  Some of these computer pilots also play Farm Simulator after all!  They're gonna notice.

I just hope we're not going to have comically oversized soybeans, for example, and that we'll have black bare ground where appropriate.  I trust MS/Asobo to get these right. 🙂

PS.  And appropriate hay bales!  That's even more important than farm equipment!

While talking about farms, I wonder if/how well Azure will be able to detect different crops, or if all farm fields will just be covered in the 3D grass?  For example, would be cool to see some 3D corn on farms in Illinois, Iowa, etc.

Room for a DLC ! The FFS21 : Farm & Flight Simulator 2021 with a choice of cropdusters. and crop textures.

Launching Venue  : the International Flying Farmers Convention

This is not funny. That DLC already exists for the "old" sims, including the 3D crops that change color when you dust them. The professional version has tractors, and even an AI combine that is actually mowing the fields when you set it loose.

OK, maybe it is funny. But there really is a professional market for that kind of thing. Training your routine using a real airplane is very expensive. So AG operators are looking for ways to train in simulated environments too.

Here is a glimpse, recorded by a tester. The requested tractors are right at the beginning.

You'll find the ADX written and practical have little to do with the way things actually work at a part 121 airline (assuming you're in the US). The difference between classroom and reality is stark.

Keep an eye out and you'll see NOTAMS containing Q-codes like "QMAHW" or "QMRHG", or the term PAEW. QMRHG is specific to mowing, but all of them indicate personnel and equipment working near the runway/movement area. It's quite common.

Our instructors (a couple currently dispatching full time) told us this many times. I find the ADX to be a complete joke. Heck, they even recommend passing it before class even started to get it out of the way. A few students did not have their ADX done and definitely struggled when it came down to crunch time before the practical.

You have a point. Flying back and forth for hours may be a tad tedious ! On the other hand, you learn a lot, like to differentiate the ground effect of flying over corn fields vs. soya fields  ! This is, of course, totally useless but you learn something. After all, this is a simulator not a game 😇.

Maybe less tedious is drying cherry trees with a chopper.
