Hi all-

The C47 comes with the GPS500. I have installed the RXP 750 and that went fine.

When I enter say KSTS > KRDD in the RXP, that route does show in the GPS500 but I cannot get the C47 to hook up and track that flight plan.

RXP is set to GPS

C47 AP is on with GPS selected.

What am I missing here?  :>)

What you are missing is the fact that the C-47 is an 80 year old aeroplane with a Sperry Gyropilot. The Sperry Gyropilot was only capable of holding a heading and maintaining pitch. In other words, you can follow the magenta line, but you'll have to do that by manually adjusting the heading which your Sperry Gyropilot is set to hold. It is not a Boeing 737 with an FMC and an autopilot with lnav and vnav capabilities.

This C47 is quite an aircraft. Manfred and his team have a lot of effort and love in this thing.

While not disagreeing, the Manfred Jahn DC-3 has a separate pop-up panel that implements the P3D/FSX stock autopilot functions. You can track VOR radials and ILSes, select rates of climb/descent and heights among other things.

If I was newtie I'd try removing the default GPS panel, maybe it's a conflict between the two GPSes.

I'm going to give this a try.

How do you remove the stock GPS panel?

I'm assumimg that you comment out lines of code somewhere?

I would probably get rid of the default GSP like this in the panel.cfg.

If anyone wants a good, long look at Tabitha May in action, Matthew Guthmiller did a multi-part video series on YouTube last summer, when they were flying her over to Normandy for the 80th anniversary Daks Over Normandy event.  Lots of good stuff in it. It starts here:

 

The thing that struck me about the videos - and others like them - is that no matter how much modern stuff you cram into the panel, at the end of the day it's still a DC-3.

That was going to be my next question, where do i get that repaint!

Anyway, I have the newest PBR version. Will your repaint work with that?

Sorry Ron...Manfred specifically stated that the older paints would not work on the new PBR version.  Your PAA paint was also one of my most used on the previous version...would love to have you update so I could use on the new PBR version...please.
