Global AI Ship Traffic in P3Dv5!

Recommended Posts

I have installed the excellent Global AI Ship Traffic by Henrik Nielsen using the add-on.xml method into P3Dv5 with great results!  No issues that I can see so far.  Here's some screen shots around Boston.

Would you mind sharing how you installed it via the add-on.xml method?

There's a guide in the included PDF of the download, on page 4.

EDIT: Realized the text gets all mangled when copying from that PDF. So here's my own quick guide;

Drop the Global_AI_Ship_Traffic_V2 folder, into your designated P3Dv5 addons location. By default "Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons". Make sure when you open Global_AI_Ship_Traffic_V2, you see Effects, Images, scenery etc.

Then you can use my add-on.xml file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Agvp_3yFADWen2ZBtP0JHUudBHr9?e=fGGS0X (Press download on top of the text, to download the .xml itself), drop that into the Global_AI_Ship_Traffic_V2 folder and you should be prompted to enable it next time you start P3D.

Set your ship traffic to at least 5% to activate, then load up and wait a few minutes for traffic to slowly saturate the world.

Enjoy.

The new water makes the ships bounce up and down in choppy water.  There's no longitudinal or lateral roll with the waves.

Good to know - I'll have to keep an eye out for that.

Really don't think it matters, you get the same amount of traffic at 5% and 100% with it enabled, to my knowledge. It's essentially just becomes an on / off switch.

How do you make this work if you want to have one location for the ship traffic but install into V4 and v5 ?

You could just make a copy of the Global_AI_Ship_Traffic_V2 folder with the add-on.xml into 'Prepar3D v4 Add-ons' in your documents folder, I assume. Then v4 should pick it up as well.

This is correct, just edit the path in the add-on.xml in your p3dv4.5 folder to reflect the full path to the folder.  Assuming you have the files in P3Dv5, your paths for v4.5 would be something like this, just replace my name with your user folder:

Quote
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on">

awesome, does this affect performance much? What are your ship and leisure boats slidings set to?
