And on a different note: for those who've got AIG traffic working in v5, how did you do it?

Read my first post! Thats all Informationen you need.

Not very helpful.

I read your (rather long) post, and it just links to the release notes of the OCI. If you've been paying attention at all, you'll be aware that AIG is not yet supporting v5. As per your link: "Note: P3Dv5 compability is still WIP and not included in this update"

The best answer to my question - for those who want to do this - is (if you already have AIG working in v4):

1. Go to the folder that contains your add-ons.cfg file for v4:

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

2. Open the file, and find this line:

[Package.x]
PATH=F:\Airline Traffic AIG\AIGAIM - OCI\OCI-Configuration
TITLE=AIGAIM AI Traffic
ACTIVE=true
REQUIRED=false

The PATH section will obviously vary between installs, but the path you have listed for v4 will be correct for v5.

3. Open the add-ons.cfg for v5 in  C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5

4. Paste the section above at the end of the file, making sure that the 'x' value is correct.

Simple, takes 2 minutes, and gives you traffic.

AIG are recommending to wait, but I've now got traffic in my sim which is making me very happy (also successfully uninstalled Traffic Global, so I'm counting that as a win as well!). There is talk about AI planes crashing in v5, I'll see how it goes after some further testing. The other main problem that I've heard reported is long loading times in v5 - no problems with that here.

Enjoy your traffic!

Your topic states it will tell you about “how to get AI in v5”, and then it fails to tell you how to get AI in v5!  Misleading topic, people will do lots of reading reading, waste time and go away confused.

Not trying to give you a hard time, but if you don’t want to be “blamed”, you shouldn’t be posting about AI traffic in v5, as thats the only way to do it right now.

For anyone who wants to get AI in v5, ignore the first post in this thread and just do what I posted. And no, it’s not going to harm your v5 install - if you know anything about P3D xml addons, this is a non-destructive process that you can reverse in 30 seconds if you decide to.

which SIM's are supported: at the moment Prepar3dv4 (but you can add it via the the add-on.xml to v5 - but not 100% compatible at night at the moment) - but it will be updated for sure for v5 in the next few days/weeks. I don't post an explained instruction how to bring it manually over to v5, when you guys have some experience with the sim structure you know how to handle the add-on.xml. It's your own risk, don't expect any support.

You have posted a "how to" guide on how to get a good AI traffic system in Prepar3d v4 AND v5, about which you said: "Read my first post! Thats all Informationen you need."

Right now, the topic of interest for many is how to get traffic in v5 (it's most of what is discussed in this thread),

However, there's no specific instructions in what you've posted on how to get traffic in v5, and you've stated that you don't want to be responsible for people modifying their sims.

Question: Do you actually have functioning AI traffic in Prepar3d v5 yourself?

Yes, of course. This way: (but you can add it via the the add-on.xml to v5 - but not 100% compatible at night at the moment)

---> I told this already: I'm using always 100% AI, and I'm fine with it. I have an really old PC (4770K, GTX 1080) and it runs fine, even with High End Payware Aircraft. It will be much better with Prepar3dv5 (I've already tested it in the new FlyTampa EKCH with 100%AI - I'm getting always between 25 and 60 FPS at this airport -  flying with the default Carenado in low circles over the airport - much more than I get normally in v4)

More test questions from you? I'll be happy to answer.

My hope from this topic is: People learn more about AI. I've read a lot about ... AI is disturbing me on approach ... which addons ... freeware .... payware ... how can I see if my AI is working ... I can't see AI on my airport ... and much more.

And I think my topic is helpful (a lot of links are also included), because avsim will be read a lot now, because v5 was released. And some people want to know something about AI in the new sim, not for now but even for the future, and the OCI will be updated for sure. That's the most important information. I think for the future. And I clearified that it is not 100% compatible at the moment, I think that's ok. Maybe not for you, but for some other ones. I told: yes it's possible via add-on.xml but I don't want to post an instruction, but it is possible!

I don't want to talk more about it. Hopefully some people become more interest in operating AI and enjoy them like me.

Found the OCI entry in my p3dv4 addons.cfg file and copied it over to my p3dv5 addons.cfg file, renumbered as appropriate.  So far no issues, it seems to be running just fine.  If an issue crops up, I simply delete the addons.cfg entry.

I’m aware of the dynamic light issue but I can live with that for now vs having no AI traffic.

The best answer to my question - for those who want to do this - is (if you already have AIG working in v4):

1. Go to the folder that contains your add-ons.cfg file for v4:

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

2. Open the file, and find this line:

[Package.x]
PATH=F:\Airline Traffic AIG\AIGAIM - OCI\OCI-Configuration
TITLE=AIGAIM AI Traffic
ACTIVE=true
REQUIRED=false

Enjoy your traffic!

I recently started using AIG, it's a great package (and I agree that Traffic Global from JF is utter junk) Anyway, one problem I have with my AI

aircraft is that I can barely hear them. I can't hear them at all from in the cockpit even if I am right next to the runway when

they are taking off! If I move to an external view I can just hear them, if they are close to me but not from any distance.

Is this normal or am I missing something? Thanks.

I am sure JustFlight and their Traffic Global team would love that!
