I miss the Autogen entry in your Skiathos xml file.

It seems that you have Arno’s Autogen Configuration Merger installed in P3Dv5...

In P3Dv4 I uninstalled ACM and put the Skiathos Autogen entry in the Skiathos xml file and that worked.

Lars from 29Palms replied to me that probably Orbx is replacing their Autogen files above all other Addons now I have installed all Orbx with Central the XML way and in a Library outside P3Dv5.

Even using an Orbx insertion point below Skiathos + 29Palms libraries does not solve this...

 

 

AFAIK, even when added via addon.xml, P3D4 and 5 only allow ONE addon autogen entry to work, any additional entries are ignored...

My experience is different Kevin, as I had all FranceVFR Addons with each an additional Autogen folder + Skiathos with an additional Autogen folder and it worked in V4.
I tested them all without and with additional Autogen folder and without there was no AG.
And I then also had a superb freeware Paris City Addon  which normally used the ACM but I changed it to XML and it worked perfectly too...

Hmmm interesting 🙂 did it ever make any difference what order they were placed in?

No, I used AO to order all scenery by country 

I have Skiathos working now..
And it wasn’t Orbx causing it but the order in the Addons.cfg file.

I took all Addons out of the Docs/P3Dv5 folder and only left Skiathos + Libraries and FSUIPC in there.

Immediately all AG appeared.
I then put back all other Addons back incl FranceVFR and also then Skiathos had AG.

Only FranceVFR has extra Autogen folders.
To be sure again I took all Addons out of the Docs\P3Dv5 folder but this time I left all FranceVFR Addons.
I reloaded and shut down P3Dv5.
Then I added Skiathos and guess what .. no AG.

After that I first added Skiathos and after a reload/shutdown I added all other Addons. Skiathos remained with AG.

My conclusion : in P3Dv5 the order in the addons.cfg file is important.
I do not know exactly but it seems that larger scenery overrule smaller scenery if the larger scenery is higher in the order.
If a small scenery is higher in the order it does not overrrule the larger scenery...

Yes, of course. That is how it works. In V4 too. Packages with the same content override all others in the order that the simulator loads them. That is not only the order of the packages in the two(!) add-ons.cfg files, but also the order of the components inside the package. Only scenery has layers with which you can force a certain sequence. 

Be mindful that "Packages" means everything, not only scenery. Texture components override each other, Shaders, Sounds, whatever. Which, IMHO, makes it so important that you don't split \scenery and \texture apart when dealing with scenery areas. Because those texture components are then defined globally and would override other textures with the same name. Most likely anyway.

To give you control over the sequence, P4AO lets you move the packages up and down the loading order on the "Packages" tab. Be mindful that autodiscovery and CLI addons don't mix. If you have an autodiscovery addon (AppData\Roaming\...\add-on.cfg) that needs to load before a CLI package (ProgramData\...\add-ons.cfg) you have to move it between discovery mechanisms (=move the add-on.xml out of the autodicovery path and reference it manually with the CLI (or Add on the Packages tab in P4AO)

Autogen is probably a little bit special, because IIRC that override didn't even work in P3D before 4.5 (?) So it is entirely possible that it has changed yet again.

So, if I move the Skiathos PACKAGE lower (than what?) using P4AO, I should have autogen at Skiathos?

I do have this scenery, but have not installed it yet. Because I have already loaded many other addon sceneries, it sounds like I will run into the no-autogen problem with Skiathos.

So, I want to solve this problem by using P4AO to move Skiathos to the correct location...again, I'm asking the question, do I use P4AO PACKAGE to move Skiathos lower?

Skiathos should be higher in order than FranceVFR.

Addon Organizer has a tab where you can see the addon.cfg order.

This is different from the Scenery Tab which is the first tab that includes all cfg and xml scenery in an order the user prefers.

Yes, that is the tab. Here you determine the order of the xml addons.
 

The first tab is a mixed cfg/xml Addons tab and is easy in putting scenery in country+airports order. But behind the scene it is the Package tab that really determines the xml priority.

Addon Organizer is imho a real musthave tool.

No, on the "Packages" tab.

The packages are what is wrapped around both scenery and other addons. Technically there is no difference between scenery and "other addons", both are just "addon components" in a package (they can be in the same package too. All your addons could be in the same package if you wanted to). I just made a separate tab for Scenery, because it has a unique property - the layers. No other addon component has this option to force a certain loading sequence.

Strange indeed but do you have LGSK with priority 1 (at the top via layers)? I have so it's above ORBX stuff...

Also another one is that I don't have AGM installed from V4 and the autogen is parsed by P3Dv5, going to do some more tests... Only difference is I have LGSK at the top above all the ORBX stuff

Without an Autogen entry you will not see any AG at Skiathos. In the custom Autogen folder are a custom default.xml and definition files that causes specific AG to appear.

Lars from 29Palms was thinking about an automated tool that puts Skiathos at the top of the addon.cfg order.

Imho LM should address the addon.cfg order priority regarding a custom Autogen folder.

Arno’s Autogen Configutation Merger simply uses the Autogen files from the scenery you are flying over .. 
Why can’t LM built this in P3D ?
