Autogen addons not working ( no AG ) in V5 like in V4 ?

Featured Replies

I made a mistake that I thought that all my FranceVFR and 29Palms scenery had working Autogen in P3Dv5.

Two days ago I tested FranceVFR at several places and I saw buildings. Just to find out today thatt these are AG buildings connected to the Scenery Complexity slider. No AG connected to the AG silders. Also 29Palms Skiathis has no Autogen.

In Prepar3D v4 Orbx modified several files in the default Autogen folder so FranceVFR and 29Palms scenery lost their Autogen. To fix that I made an extra Autogen folder with the default definition files and copied that next to each FranceVFR addons Scenery and Texture folder. Then I added the FranceVFR definiton files. As I did not want to use the Autogen Merger Tool anymore I simply added the FranceVFR addons the XML way and added the Autogen folders .   In that way it worked flawlesly.

Orbx used the Autogen folder in the P3Dv4 root and every FranceVFR scenery Addon and 29Palms Skiathios used its own Autogen folder. All FranceVFR Addons where outside P3Dv4.

- - -

Then came P3D v5....

I copied the FranceVFR xml folders from Docs\P3D v4 Addons folder to the P3Dv5 Doc / P3Dv5 Addons folder . The same with Skiathos. However none of the Addons show Autogen.I treid with the default Autogen folder in the P3Dv5 root and also with the default terrain.cfg file but no difference.

I have to add that after installing P3Dv5 I made copies of all important folders and then I used Central 4.0.16 to install all my Orbx scenery outside P3Dv5. They automatically have been added the XML way. Incl FTX Golbal.

Any one know what it is ? And how to bring the AG back ?

Thanks in advance, Gerard

Gerard, if you have some basic knowledge of French (or use Google Translate) you can ask at the France VFR forum. They have a long ongoing thread on P3D5

https://www.vfrnetwork.com/forums/index.php?/topic/17475-p3d-v5-sortie-le-14-avril/

which I lost track of but the guys may have an idea. I would be interested in a working procedure as well.

Kind regards, Michael

Thanks Michael, I will look into it.

As I have V4 and V5 both installed I can see that multiple Autogen folders in the xml way work fine in V4 , but that there seems to be something different in V5.

All FranceVFR are now working correctly.

Just by DL the AGM set and installing it into V5. Note : it also installs textures into the main Texture folder in the P3Dv5 root.

The modified Autogen folder I copied into all FVFR Addons.  That was it.

Unfortunately Skiathos will not work for me in V5. I sent a message to 29Palms support and hopefully Lars will respond.

Thanks a lot, I'll still wait a few days but try it at a point. So this doesn't conflict with ORBX being installed via add-on.xml. Just copying the modified autogen folder into the France VFR Sceneries and that's it. The base autogen folder will be overwritten when running ORBX Central but P3D5 will read the autogen entries from the additional France VFR directories  No additional measure reguired - right?

Kind regards, Michael

So GSalden, are you saying multiple autogen folders do work in P3Dv5 or not? (I didn't even think it worked in v4 but I guess so?).  Or it does but it's up to each developer to update their version?  I thought one of the ideas was to keep stuff out of the root folders but sounds like you said files need to go into the texture folder.

I've always used ACM without issue so that's why I am asking for a little more clarification on what you have seen.

Many thanks,

Clutch

Hi Michael, Clutch,

If I use the default Autogen folder in the P3Dv5 root and the modified Autogen folder in all FranceVFR Addons I have Autogen.

Why Skiathos does not want to work is something I don’t know yet.

As FranceVFR and some other also need custom textures in the main Texture folder I will try finding a way to put these also out of the P3Dv5 root.

Anything new I will post in this thread.

the autogen dissapearence seems to be an issue that many v5 users are having at the moment. my best guess is to wait for the next hotfix to come out.

I think this carries over to v5...

I posted over at the LM forum here... https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=136994

LGSK can be uninstalled and then re-installed.

The add-on manager or "ag merger" need to be added to the the p3d v5 add-on folder and activated. I guessing here! It's how it works in p3d v4.

I'm aware of the above, however I used the addon and autogen path in the xml file and it works fine local here 🙂

Going to test at other places if I have still the correct autogen in place...

As for now just tested and working fine here via the addon method and autogen path...

André,
Here I used the XML way too :

- default Autogen folder

- Skiathos has its own Autogen folder

- All folders are described in the XML file in Docs \ P3Dv 5 Addons

To be sure I compared my XML file to the one 29Palms posted at their forum. Exactly like mine...

According to the AO there are no errors in the XML file.

Both 29Palms folder , Libraries and Skiathos appear in the addon.cfg file. Also in AO as in P3Dv5 itself : Addons menu.

But no AG.

I wonder if Orbx installed the XML outside P3Dv5 through Central way has something to do with it.
