P3D v5 is great. If you think that it makes the hobby “unpleasant”, fly something else.

If your beef is CTDs, as has been stated many times before - you need decent hardware and careful choice of addons. If you have this, there is nothing showstopping about v5 HF2’s stability. In its current form, it’s a good sim.

You say that you don’t want to be a beta tester - fine. But you are literally posting in a thread where the topic is a problem caused by an optional beta feature!

It's amazing what you say. Look again at my specs, look again at how many CTD and problems they have in their forum.

How can it be a "stable" platform when you have CTDs, crashes, Nvidia drivers problems that hang the sim (different versions), crashing when stretching over monitors, vcruntime errors there are so many.

Apparently for some people bugs like this are OK, please don't tell me "fly something else", that's very unprofessional and uncalled for.

Re EA I have it off being beta feature.

You can pretend that is fine and good and no "showstopping about v5 HF2’s stability" when people have so many issues listed in their forum, not me.

Good luck!

CTD's come from unstable or low spec systems overdriven. If the code is word not allowed we ALL would have CTD's.

This is a very good point. I’ve gone at least 50 flights not without a ctd. Before that I had some things to work thru. I solved my biggest issues by reinstalling gsx.
@killthespam you should post your settings and any overclocks. Driver versions. Etc. somebody can probably help you.

@micstatic,

Thank you so much, I don't have any issues at all. My PC is stable and have no problems, I was just mentioning issues that I noticed on the net about this version.

Initially I was like some other people wondering what's goin on. I cant understand why other have all kind of issues and other no. It cannot be that so many people to have bad overclocks, bad drivers etc.

Something is not right here and if I remember correct previous versions didn't have so many problems.

Thanks again, I do appreciate.

I’ve got well over a hundred hours in P3D v5 now. I can call it a stable platform because - like a bunch of other people here - I don’t see any of the wide range of problems that you’re going on about.

You are greatly exaggerating the issues that v5 HF2 has. I am not “pretending” about anything, when i’ve had the odd CTD with v5 earlier in its release, i’ve troubleshot the issues and solved the problem. Are you trying to do the same, or are you just here to be globally negative about the sim?

I'm afraid that you got it wrong and you can't accept that something is wrong with the sim despite the fact what many are complaining about.

I don’t see what you’re seeking to achieve here. At least advice about damp seats in the cockpit has been provided, which is what the OP sought.

You’re trashing the sim for no good reason.

You posted a specific issue here that has been discussed a dozen times, has a simple solution and only affects a beta-specific aspect of the sim.

It’s well known that EA is an optional beta feature that has some quirks. If these are going to ruin your life, turn off the beta option that you chose to activate, and come back to it when it’s out of beta.

If your point is to say that the overall sim is bad, based on the opinions of other, unknown individuals, then that’s not really a very helpful post, particularly when you’re saying that it actually works well for you!

There is one known problem with two possible workarounds.  If this was the only issue, there wouldn't be any problem.  Unfortunately, a lot of people are having a lot of problems, too many for me to feel comfortable doing an upgrade.

The first step to solving any problem is to admit there is one.  It might be very helpful if the people who have gotten v5 working on their system would work to solve the problems others are having.  This involves more than blaming unstable overclocks or accusing people of running the sim with options set too high.

Find out what works (and what doesn't) and get as many people up to speed as possible.  Let's grow the community instead of fragmenting it.  And remember, people with problems are going to be frustrated, so handle with care.

Ok, but you’re still saying there is a problem that must be “admitted” to, despite having zero experience with the sim.

This just perpetuates the myth that v5 has major problems. Even OP is saying that he doesn’t have problems himself!

In this thread, people did explain to the OP how to fix the minor issue in question (and this is a well-known quirk of beta EA that most v5 fliers are well aware of).

The community is more at risk of fragmentation from the undeserved negativity towards v5 that is so often heard.

What “works” in v5 is decent hardware, avoiding troublesome addons, resisting the urge to “tweak”, being sensible with sliders and - if you’re unlucky enough to have an issue, which will be the minority of people - troubleshooting it in a logical manner.

Actually, I'm saying there are a *lot* of problems that must be "admitted" to. 😄 Sorry 'bout that.

For a lot of people v5 is working just fine.  Many are even using EA despite obvious problems although it's still in beta.  Integration with Active Sky has problems that aren't talked about much.  This is something I'd need to know about before committing to v5.  Workround:  don't use EA with Active Sky.  VRAM OOMs is another problem.  Workaround: don't use EA if your video card doesn't have lots of VRAM... 8 may or may not be enough... maybe lowering your sliders will help.

If I'm not going to be using EA, what are the advantages of v5 over v4.5?  I've heard there is a 10% fps improvement and load times are improved.  Is this worth $200?  I'm not interested in the water changes.  What else does v5 get me?

For someone who doesn't already have v4, then v5 is the obvious choice.

Note:  Avsim isn't the only forum I follow.

Only for the users who fail to get their settings accordingly to their hardware. So its a user problem, not from the app.
