My first texture and Shader tweaks result

That's precisely why I bought it LOL!!!

I've been posting on the Envtex forum myself - but Maxime has said he has some issues to deal with right at the moment, so won't be responding quite as quickly as he would have liked. I'm hoping this isn't anything to do with the virus or associated tragedy.

As a matter of interest - are you seeing cloud shadows in non-EA mode? I'm not!

Adam.

I spent a few hours digging in the V4 Shaders to find out what PTA changes when a tweak is applied.

Sofar :

Reduce cloud brightness at dawn-dusk-night

Object Lighting

Terrain Lighting ( cloud shadows ! )

Water Surface Tuning

The idea was to look in the same Shader file in V5 as listed on the doc from each tweak to see if they also exist in there.

The first issue that I saw is that in V5 there is no GPUTerrain.fx file.

The best way is to look where EnvShade puts its tweaks.

Eg : if EnvShade puts a terrain tweak like Clouds Shadows into the Terrain.fx file my approach would be to take the same file from the vanilla Shader backup and put a V4 tweak somewhere into that file,
And then test it with a high value and a low value to see if it is still working.

Adam, if you want I can mail you the found tweaks so you can try this approach yourself,

In the coming days I do not have a lot of time to test, just today.

regards, Gerard

Perhaps it also works in V5.

There is no moon in v5....lol or I simply don't have it,,,,

Thanks (emailed you back). I found a mistake in cloud.fx (as generated by Envshade). I have my shadows back!!  I've contacted Maxime ...

The good news is that this brings back cloud shadows to the EA mode as well (see below):

I looked up full moon date/time for my area and set P3D to it. I have a perfect moon - with or without enhanced atmospherics.

Ok basically I should add MOON_PHASE (GRAPHICS) in my .cfg since there is none there....Issue I have flying long haul and it is so unrealistic "outside"..even stars are bleak...need to add some life for night flying...

The sun is worse than in P3Dv4,5

Clouds and atmosphere look good.

In 4.5 the sun had scattering light around itself at dawn and dusk , and the sun disappeared in that light.

In v5 the scattering light fills the screen with lots of colors but the sun remains seperately.
I was able to add more sunglare to it as you can see in the screenshots above.

You can always go back to V4... 😆

Hi Gerard!

Any chance you can share your settings? They look amazing!

Thanks!

Thanks!

You need EnvShade and EnvTex and ASCA for this.

  • EnvShade settings are on page 1. To get darker clouds shadows open cloud.fx ( inside your ShadersHLSL folder ) and look for " Envshade_Cloudshadows_Multiplier*1.1"  and change the 1.1 to 1.5.
  • EnTex : Dynamic Sky Day = High Flying / Dynamic Sky Sunrise =  Spring / Dynamic Sky Night = Bright / Dynamic SkySunset  =  High Flying / Sun = 4 Intense / Sun flare = Set 3
  • DL my Sunglare texture     http://members.casema.nl/gsalden/Gerard_corona1.rar
  • Make a backup of your suneffect.cfg file.inside ProgramData/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3dV5
  • Open suneffect.cfg and replace section [Lensflare.2] with :

[LensFlare.2]
Texture="Gerard_corona1.bmp"
Size="0.095"
Location="1.00"
Intensity="2.6"
Corona="1"

  • Save the new suneffect,cfg file
  • Open your cameras.cfg file and go to the section :

[CameraDefinition.002]
Title=Virtual Cockpit

  • Change ShowLensFlare=False to True
  • ASCA : I choose for Bloom clouds ( I only use ASCA clouds ). In ASSCA you can set the path to V5

That is it...

Inside P3Dv5 : Brightness 1.10 / Bloom 0.47 / Saturation 1.02  --> My monitors have Contrast at Max and Brightness at 10 . You will have to find your sweet spot

Wow, thanks for the fast reply!

I actually bought EnvShade two days ago after reading your thread. 🙂

Now implementing your settings...

Would buying the small 100 USD TrueSky license give us the chance to change the parameters for sun and moon? Seems like a strange investment, but maybe well worth it.

Gerald, keep up the great work. You may eventually make a new PTA 🙂

Where do I download your texture.....which folder? I Believe in Main P3Dv5 under texture....?

Also Camera shows, like it's not active... I have CameraDefinition.001 (just -Cockpit-)

My apologies : the sun texture goes into your main Texture folder.

Why your Virtual Cockpit is not active I do not know. Do you have one with default planes ?

Do you use a Camera Addon that has its own camera views ?

It should be there by default

Anyway, you can add the line to your Virrusl Cockpit yourself. Like in the VC text above.
