Just kidding .... I am shelving this for a long time.I loved the weather engine,detailed airports,gnd vehicles, but the sim choked my highend rig and I was just not having fun with the default a/c.It is a great sim for bush flying I did a trek around Grand Canyon and I was gettin good FPS, but the approach to KLAS was horrendous my gfx card could not keep up too much rendering for my taste.I will wait this one out.I have been simming since the SUbLogic ATP days and this is the first Sim I ever had to shelve.I like to fly the heavies and the detail of say a PMDG 7XX with weather,Radar Contact , and ASky will bring most any system too its knees in todays hardware environment.I just built this rig and have oced the FSB and Vcore and I was still not happy with the results.BTW I stood at KLGA for departure atleast 30 mins to watch many go arounds and disappearing ac waiting for dep.This was at 75% traffic.I hope AIsmooth will be around for FSX.ThanksAndy

Andy...Don't Panic (as in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).Turn off all the ships and cars and sailboat stuff for now. Dumb down a couple of other things and try some of the autogen tweaks and you'll be much happier.Then, upgradeBuckKJAX

I did as suggested but was still not what I was hoping for.I adjusted the cfg file and did the autogen tweaks.FSX has plenty of potential but I think it really was designed with Vista and Directx10 in mind and with cutting edge HW.I have a 7900GT Oced which is plenty fast.FS9 screams with this setup like there is no tomorrow .My guess is when Vista Sp1 and FSX SP1 are finalized the HW end will be catching upto the SW technology.This Sim to me is useless in todays environment I think all those who are giving it kudos are fearful that the hobby we all love and live for could potentially meet its demise due to poor customer support.Like I said in my original post this is the FIRST SIM I EVER SHELVED since SUBLOGIC ATP.I think that is over 20 yrs by now .......Please dont bash me It will only reconfirm what I am saying.Andy

That's an odd bit of logic. Some are getting good performance but they are really attempting to appease the developers, but if you disagree with that assesment you are confirming that hypothesis??? Interesting scientific analysis there. I guess if anyone hates it it's bashing if you like it your a a really excited user?Some are reporting good performance some not, it's most likely based on what good performance means to them. Heavy fliers will most likely not enjoy the performance, GA/Bush fliers may love it. Depends on where or how you fly. Another reason for positive statements may also come from perception. Your idea of good performance and graphics may be higher than someone elses. There is also more to this sim that looks and some are enjoying those features available in FSX that are not there in FS9. Then there are some that hate it. Too each his own. It's all part of the same hobby be it X-Plane, FS2000, Fly, FU, FS9 or FSX. Fly at your own pace.I'm not bashing just providing alternate reasons for people posting good performance and some who actually are enjoying it. Ian.

Mines not on the shelf yet, as there is a great knowledge pool to get tips here in the forums, but I'm almost to the point of shelving it also.I feel you pain because I have a hard-core rig also. :-)I don't think you give up easily. You just expect the thing to run well out the the box--a very reasonable expectation.

Have you ever owned an FS flight simulator before? :)I don't think I've bought any flight simulator that ran well out of the box, well maybe Sublogics but then I didn't know any better.I sure hope these issues are resolved, it's ashame to see the split in the community.Ian.

I really do feel your pain. I also have been flying since the SubLogic days. Like you I like to fly with lots of aftermarket enhancements, but that could add 10 to 15 or more FPS of load so there is absolutely no way. Based on my performance with Demo 2, which is 20 FPS with medium setting and auto-gen turned to low I may be still using FS9 long after my FS10 arrives.What FS10 needs is a 8 or 9 GHz single core CPU. Unfortunately all I see are Dual and Quad cores of much lower speed in the pipe.Ron

Didn't sublogic and those original FS versions run at 4-6 FPS?
