Elevator trim locked all the way down on all aircraft

Featured Replies

Just installed P3D v5 and all my aircraft have the elevator trim locked all the way down.  I can get it to momentarily go up with my trim rocker on my CH Eclipse yoke, but then it immediately goes all the way back down again.  When I try using autopilot in any aircraft the plane immediately dives.  I guess this is because of the elevator trim being all the way down.  Does anyone know what might be going on here?

You have another control or axis mapped to it - check in P3d controls (axis and button assignments)
(or what ever is mapped to it is sticking)

You could check via the P3d Menu OR go to C:\USERS\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepare 3D v5\Controls and view Standard.xml with notepad or even better notepad++ and do a Find (all in current document) the word Trim - Notepad++ would should you all the hits quickly and you could see where is duplicated and or set  - its also a good idea to back up this file when you get things sorted out in case controls get mismapped down the road which can happen with P3d when you start adding devices / connecting / disconnecting etc.

(I have P3D 4.5 - so my folder is ..\Prepare 3D v4\...)

I've had trouble with my elevator trim to and I know how to map it. It simply is not working properly.

If it happens on all a/c it's 99% probability of a crossed assignment somewhere OR a bad yoke/stick. If it only happens on specific a/c, I'd look to the a/c itself. ASlso double check that you haven't set up a default flight that had the trim down.

I have never seen this type of issue be the fault of the sim.

Yep... vgbaron is correct.  I had the same issue several weeks ado.  Took awhile but I found the two axis conflicting with each other.  Just need to go through all your devices, controls, spadNext if you have it and/or FSUIPC if you have it.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

I once had that problem in fsx. a line was added to config file that said some like aoutotrime=1. to check that out do a take off and see if it the trim is moving.that problem had me going  for about 2 weeks. i still do not know how the line got put in there to this day. Good luck.
