Major Issue with P3D v5

Featured Replies

Hi - Today I did a complete reinstall of P3dv5 and I am having some crazy issues. The first airport I went to was CYVR default. I am getting massive flashes of all different colors. I have a picture but I can't see how to post something from my desktop. I went to KORD and didn't notice this issue, but I have no idea what is causing this. Any ideas would be great. Also, if someone can tell me how to attach the photo that would be great.

Cheers, Pete

I read that disabling "Dynamic Texture Streaming" may resolve the issue in some cases.  I tried that and the textures (yellow & black) geo shapes kept flashing on my display.  The only way that I resolved it was by installing CYVR from FSDT which I owned already.

I think the issue is likely an elevation related issue with default scenery.

it's not you. CYVR is bad. It does that flashing color at lower altitude. It goes away after you reach about 1000 feet.

Great, thank you so much! I was about to install the FSDT CYVR since I have that as well. I am glad it was not an issue on my end. I will install the FSDT CYVR and hopefully that should do it.

Be sure to update FSDT CYVR after installing it using the FSDT Live Update.

That is exactly what happened! I literally just picked an airport out of a hat to fire up P3d v5 after the install! I was about to lose my mind! Thanks for the replies!

If you want to use default CYVR without the flashes you need to modify the airport in ADE and delete ALL taxisigns... That solve that issue for me...

I was hoping LM would fix this already.

The problem with CYVR and artifacts is with the taxi signs as mentioned by Nestor (Dexter1979).  Took a few minutes to look at this further and the actual problem is the information signs along runway 8R. These are black with white lettering.  These signs countdown the remaining runway length left by multiplying the number by 1000. There are two problems with these signs. They actually countdown every 1000 feet and not 1100 as shown in the scenery and the signs were not set up properly when the airport was designed by LM.  If you have ADE, the issue is quickly fixed by re-doing each sign and  and re-compiling the airport into a higher scenery level.

Heading west to east along runway 8R. the signs should read 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2. For some reason LM put a "x" as the first character and a "?" between each character. MS based sims do not like this from previous personnel experience. Information signs in ADE should be entered with an "i" as the first character followed by the information.  for example for the first sign, you would enter i11, then i10 for the next sign , then i9 for the next sign, etc.

Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder.

I have the FSDT CYVR and once I installed that the issue was resolved. This was the first airport I went to after a fresh install, before any third party addons. It sure freaked me out!

According to the HF2 version history -- "Fixed visual issues with distance remaining signs." So are you saying that it still isn't fixed? Looks fine to me after a complete reinstall.
