June 3, 20206 yr Hi everyone, I put a lot of efforts in creating an in-depth analysis based on P3D and all currently available data and information on flight PK8303, which sadly crashed in Karachi, Pakistan last week. Based on the ADS-B transponder data, it is possible to simulate the flight path pretty accurately. The ATC transmissions and eyewitness accounts give further insides on what might have happened to PK8303. Disclaimer: The video contains assumptions (highlighted in the video), since not yet all relevant information that would be required for a real investigation is available (e.g. FDR and CVR data). I tried to be as neutral as possible and stick to the currently available data, rather than pre-judging before the release of the official investigation results. However, I want to emphasize, that ultimately only the official investigation report will answer show what happened. Until then everything else will be more or less complete speculations. Hope that, despite the sad topic, the video sheds some light on what might have happened to PK8303 and is anyways informative and entertaining. Really interested in your opinion and potential suggestions for improvement. Cheers, Captain Mayday
June 3, 20206 yr That sounds at the times mark.. is terrible. as in horrorfying ;). Good first analyses. thanks! Victor Roos
June 3, 20206 yr I'm going to be honest here, and you're not going to like what I've got to say. But you asked for it, and so you are going to get it, with both barrels, because frankly you deserve it. In the aftermath of such incidents, there is always a clamour among numerous youtube channels which focus on aviation, to get a video out about the event, and it is very obvious that the motivation behind these videos is to capitalise on the fact that a hot search topic in the days after a tragedy, will mean that such videos on youtube most likely get found because of the way the youtube analysis algorithms function. This is especially true when many people are still at home under lockdown because of the pandemic, spending time searching on social media for hot topics. Now, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that in the hours and days following a crash, desperate friends and relatives of those who were on board PK8303 will be performing searches online for information in the sadly vain and desperate hope that by some miracle there might be a shred of news for them to cling onto. With this in mind, I am frankly disgusted by the youtubers who - with no more information than what is freely available; typically some ADS-B data off Flight Radar 24 or some such, and a copy of XPlane or FSX/P3D - will paint themselves as being able to offer some kind of new insight into the events, by using words such as 'update' and 'what really happened' as SEO clickbait titles for their videos, when they neither have any updated information, nor are in possession of the knowledge necessary to know what really happened. Typically these videos claim to have involved a lot of hard work and analysis, usually have some passing nod to stating some of the content is speculation, and then to add insult to injury, they proffer a vague platitude about being in memory of the victims, then in the same breath ask you to click the like and subscribe buttons, which is a bit of a giveaway as to what the real motivation is - which to be brutally honest, is nothing more than: 'get me some subscribers and loads of channel views so I can make money off this tragedy.' And if you think I am being harsh here in suggesting this, perhaps you might tell me of an occasion where, at the graveside following a funeral, the priest has closed his prayer book after performing the service in memory of the deceased, then added: 'if you enjoyed this memorial service, don't forget to like me on facebook and twitter.' I have made exactly this kind of scathing comment on several of these videos about such accidents, because they are nothing more than an attempt to make money from ghoulish rubbernecking; they have about as much intention to provide insight into 'what really happened' or 'updated' information, as I have of becoming the next Pope. If you genuinely do have some new insight or information into the accident, by all means offer it up, but don't pretend you are doing this when what you are really interested in, is promoting your new channel in the hopes of getting to that magic 1,000 subscribers level so you can start throwing adverts on even more videos capitalising on aviation tragedies and the grief of friends and relatives. And yes, before you offer it as a defence, I do know that youtube has demonetised PK8303 videos, but this does not prevent people from still capitalising on such tragedies by garnering subscribers to their channel which they can then later gain revenue from. I too have a youtube channel on aviation which I occasionally make videos for. As much as I would like more subscribers, I would never do something like you have done, because unlike you, who clearly doesn't give a sh** about the very real possibility of causing anguish to the friends and relatives of the accident victims by making a video with promises of 'what really happened' and 'updated information', when this is a blatant lie, I actually have a shred of decency. A fatal airliner accident which is still fresh in the minds of the friends and relatives of the victims, is not a subject for entertainment so that you can make money off it. June 3, 20206 yr Perhaps changing the channel name to Capt. Mayday from Simguy wasn't the best idea ever... June 3, 20206 yr Author Thanks Chock and Trevor for your indeed critical comments - I would even say that I partially agree. I don't want to argue much. Always good to have different opinions. Just to set some things straight: 1. Indeed my channel is way too small and my time (normally outside of COVID) is way too limited to monetize my channel in any kind (so no financial interest here - only a hobby). But of course you create videos, because you want people to see them and of course try to use different ways to get viewers. The title and pictures are definitely the most crucial part here. So I agree that this is always a sensitive topic if you cover topics like this. 2. Even though I agree, that only the final investigation can shed light on what really happened, I think there is still interest in a summary of the (currently accessible & limited) facts and to make some sense of that by coming up with scenarios . Also happens outside of hobby-youtuber-channels like mine (e.g. world-wide media). From my point of view this is fine, as long as you mention and highlight the speculative aspects / approaches. Thats why there is a dedicated disclaimer section in the beginning of the video and in addition I highlight assumptions throughout the video. However, I agree - just like mentioned various times in the video, everything we see anywhere concerning PK8303 will ultimately remain speculation until the final report has been announced. Thanks anyways for the critical comment and taking the time to write such a long feedback. Edited June 3, 20206 yr by dacia123
