Today was the day when I eventually received the update to 2004.

Karl

A month on from your post, and I still haven't received 2004 yet.

I did install the latest nVidia drivers and all windows updates, so I can only assume there are some issues with the 1080ti card, my ASUS mb, and Win10 2004 that is requiring more testing and work at Microsoft.   That's good though, it means it will be more battle-tested by the time they do make it available to me thru the normal channels.  I am not going to force install it.

I received my update yesterday. Prior to that even though I had downloaded the update to manually install it would not update and kept reporting that my system was not ready for the update.  However on Friday the windows update updated the .Net files then the day after I got the 2004 update, was that the issue with my system.

Not fully tried everything bur P3D 4.5 loads however it seems to have deleted my REX Environment Force program as it is nowhere to be found!!!

Not happening. I have OS 18363.959.

I've searched the internet.

Tried the Net start and stop

Renaming Software Distribution

Using the Win 10 update assistant

Disabling the CONEXANT drives

Resetting the PC (Please don't do this if you don't have to)

Joining Windows Insider

ISO

Clean Boot (removed all non essential hardware and unplugged 2nd monitor)

Update drivers (in particular nVidia)

Asking MS for help in feedback

Asking MS for help on Twitter

And I hear I am... still on 1909

Did you download the upgrade? Did you select the “search for updates” option in Windows update? If you did either of these, it may be something on your system which is not fully compatible with the new version of Windows. Although it sometimes takes a long time, it’s always worth waiting until the new version is automatically offered in Windows update (which won’t happen until it’s compatible with your existing software). If you download or search for updates, you’ll get the update whether your system is compatible or not.

Update:

I was working with a MS tech for hours. We tried several methods, even creating a new admin account, to get the update to install. Hours. In the end the only thing that worked was resetting the PC (again) from a USB, which (again) killed most of the apps I'd just reinstalled. No idea why it wasn't updating on its own.

Finding all the old passwords is not a fun way to get your PC back to how you want it. Hopefully this does not happen to any of you.

My PC:

I am still on 1909.

Was the purpose of your interaction with MS support to get Build 2004 on your machine?

I am just letting Win Update advise me as to when 2004 is ready for my hardware.  I do not want to go through what you did.

Hey @Mace

Yes, the purpose was to get the 2004 version on my device. Previously, I was getting a notification that win 2004 was coming. Then that notification disappeared with no further information. The update is supposedly better for P3d v5, which was my prime motivation in wanting 2004. Of course, now, I no longer intend to fly v5.

Regardless, I hope whenever the update comes your way that it is quick and painless!

I was stuck on 1709

Had a computer with very up to date specs

Tried everything including the local tec shop

Very frustrating as P3D v5 performed very poorly
Finally wiped everything and reinstalled Ie latest P3Dv5 hf2

Bit of a faff but 2004 made such a difference it was worth it

I fly XPlane 11 too-noticible  improvement here also

In the end was a worthwhile exercise

The 2004 update came for my FS machine today.

It took about an hour (!) to update itself.  The machine restarted several times during the process.

Make sure You also update Your nVidia drivers. To v451.67.
Among being optimized for WIN 10 2004, you will gain back around 1 GB of VRAM.
You will also be able to turn on Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling.
