June 13, 20205 yr Just upgraded to windows 10pro from 7pro. Now FSX won't load a flight and freezes unless DX10 preview box is checked. However, with DX10 checked, scenery has black boxes along major roads. How can I run FSX without DX10 preview checked? i7-3930, 16GB ram, GEforce 1060 with 6GB ram. June 13, 20205 yr Welcome to AVSIM Rob..Dale.. enjoy your stay. I don't know how to solve the initial problem of using FSX in DX9 without the DX10 preview, but I have a suggestion. Unfortunately it involves a bit of expense in that purchasing Steve's DX10 Fixer would be a way forward. Add to that his Cloud Shadows for better immersion if you wish.. EDIT Charlie beat me to it! June 13, 20205 yr I run FSX on W10 in DX9 without problems. How did you do the upgrade? Sometimes there are driver issues. Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
June 13, 20205 yr If, when trying to fly in DX9 mode, all you see is a black screen, it's possible that you're trying to fly in fullscreen mode. Try switching to windowed mode. With FSX closed, open FSX.cfg, look for the line that says "Maximized=" and make sure the value is either 2 or 0. Somehow, fullscreen mode does not work correctly in Windows 10 + DX9 (and just a bit better if using DX10).
