There is a tendency at Avsim for someone who is not a moderator to post what amounts to forum moderation and then if someone disagrees, for one or more like-minded forum members to come along and basically attempt to browbeat the dissenter into submission. The result is often distasteful and can even drive people to post something out of character, rather than "show everyone who he really is". To post that someone has revealed their true character is to make a judgement and given the restraint with which the previous assaults on their character had been answered, probably incorrect.

It is a great shame that a civilised discussion is a very rare thing at the Avsim forums, all the more so because in the greater scheme of things, 99% of the subject matter of discussions that descend into personal attacks is trivial minutiae about a niche hobby, or perhaps that is in fact the reason.

The OP came under immediate attack.  If people had offered help instead of insults like "Hi, FSX forum is over that way —————>" things would have turned out differently.
