This statement is made every new console cycle....and yet gaming PCs are still going strong (although, yeah I agree they comparatively much more expensive) . Maybe this time it’ll be different.

...here, I’ll hold my breath 😉😁

They are dead in my mind because I can no longer afford to build one (retired) and they will overtax my solar system.  An Xbox Series X uses 300 watts - about the same as an Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU.

Mmm, I wonder if 3rd party add-ons, pay or freeware will be able to be added to Xbox sims? Or must they be dedicated console versions?

There's no console in my future. There's no way to run 3d Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop, or the dozens of other development programs my work requires!

Also no console for me, I'm not into that kind of gaming & I'd rather have an upgradable device, My laptop serves me well, & will do so.

Having 2 devices? Meh!

I'm agreeing with you, but from a money standpoint are our flightsim PC's really "upgradable"? Sure, one can add storage, input devices and monitors, but that can also be done with a console. But if one upgrades a CPU, it's usually inevitable that the motherboard and sometimes the RAM also will need to be upgraded. And then there's a GPU upgrade. The high end Nvidia cards are more money than a console. It's costly to do a meaningful upgrade on a high end PC and not spend a lot of cash. It's like the joke about repairing the old jalopy. It was in such bad shape that the mechanic said to jack up the fuel cap and drive a new car underneath.
